1. How do business reports differ from business letters?

Answer:

Business letters are documents which are used as a formal way of communication from one
organization to the other or intranet.

Business report is a much wider concept and entails research report / proposal writing etc.

2. How are informational reports different from analytical reports? State an original example.

Answer:

The report prepared from, the information gathered from the investigation is known as an
informational report. Report writing structure is not followed here. It is comparatively, small in size.

Example. Informational Report: Proposals or feasibility reports

Analytical report is the report prepared after analyzing the investigated information.
It is comparatively large in size with quantitative and qualitative analysis and report writing structure
is followed here, strictly.

Example. Analytical report: Sales report ( How to exceed targets next year?)

3. What three questions do progress reports typically address?

Answer:

A. Is the project on schedule?


B. Are corrective measures needed?
C. What Activities are next?
4. State sentence structure differences between all six kinds of informal reports previously

5. How do academic and technical writing differ?

Answer:
The major difference between both of these forms lies in their style. Technical writing is linked to the
processes. It involves a step by step explanation of a procedure so that anyone can understand it. From
business letters to the product descriptions and editorial letters, it conveys the technical information such
as engineering and scientific studies in the easiest way possible. Academic writing is more specific in
nature as it is linked to a particular discipline. It is a complex form of writing which can more commonly
be seen in the form of scholarly articles and textbooks.
