Reproducing the Issue

1. Call transaction MM02


2. Insert an existing material for which objects(*) are existing
3. Set or unset flag ‘Batch Management’
4. Save
5. System send error M3530  “Batch management requirement cannot be changed”

(*) Objects can be: order, delivery, stocks, batch, purchase order….for this material

Cause

In SAP Standard the batch management flag cannot be changed as long as objects for this material are existing.

(*) Objects can be: order, delivery, stocks, batch, purchase order….for this material

Resolution

1. You have to archive all existing objects (*). It’s not enough to set the deletion flag or indicator, you have to
archive them from database

2. You have to clear all stocks, also the stocks from previous period.

3. (*) Objects can be: order, delivery, stocks, batch, purchase order….for this material

Within SAP standard there is no other way to change the flag.
