Course Overview
Note: This course is designed to provide a snapshot of the supports that can be provided
to ELs during elearning. As you participate in the course, know that you have long-term
support in our Sheltered Instruction Specialists, Isabel Becerra and C
laudia Ramos. Read
through this document to get a better understanding of the course’s goals and procedures
to make the most of your learning.
The goals of the Sheltered Instruction &
eLearning Course are:
● Provide practical guidelines for planning
distance instruction that meets the needs
of ELs using the Sheltered Instruction for
eLearning Framework
Course Goals ● Support families by ensuring that learning
activities are as clear, practical, and
accessible as possible
● Maintain curriculum expectations by
adhering to content objectives specified in
the district learning plans
The course is divided into modules with the
following learning activities:
● Module Introduction: Goals for the module
and an overview of the activities
Course Navigation ● Learning Video: T his is the primary
learning for the module and will be
assessed in the reflection and quiz
● Quiz: Each module ends with a
five-question, multiple-response quiz. As
you take the quizzes, feel free to reach out
to a member of the Sheltered Instruction
team if you have questions or doubts.
If you need to retake a quiz, email one of
the team members and we will help you
promptly.
● Reflection: This is a short written response
at the end of each Quiz
Each module takes between 15-20 minutes to
complete.
You can progress through the course by clicking
the gray bar at the end of each lesson item or by
selecting a module activity from the menu bar on
the left.
Credit will be awarded when all modules are
completed and a cumulative score from quiz
items is 80% or greater.
Earning Credit Once your score is verified, a certificate of
completion, as well as a badge for your email
signature, will be emailed to you. You will also
receive 1 hour of CPE credit which will be
documented in Performance Matters.
