1.1 Course Introduction Welcome to the course, Routing: Piping and Tubing.

SOLIDWORKS Routing is a unique application that combines the power of


standard SOLIDWORKS files and features such as parts, assemblies, drawings,
and 3D sketches with routing-specific files like routing components and route
sub-assemblies, to model 3D routed systems.

This course focuses on the fundamental skills, concepts, and techniques


central to creating and editing piping, tubing, and other related types of
routes.

Students attending this course are expected to have completed the course,
SOLIDWORKS Essentials.

1.2 Course Objectives In this course, you will learn how to:

• Set up SOLIDWORKS Routing,

• Create and edit piping and tubing routes,

• Add pipe fittings and tubing components to routes,

• Create new routing components,

• Create piping and tubing drawings,

• Use P&ID (Piping and Instrumentation Drawing) files to generate


routes,

• Create electrical ducting, cable tray, and HVAC routes, and

• Download and use SOLIDWORKS Content.
