Asian Paints Limited (APL) is engaged in the manufacture of paints and kitchen components. The
company has around 26 paint manufacturing facilities. APL operates in the Caribbean, the Middle East,
Asia and South Pacific.
The company operates through the following two segments: paints and home improvement.
APL's paints segment offers interior paints, exterior paints, metal finishes, wood finishes and
waterproofing. The company offers interior paints under Royale Aspira, Royale Sensations Galaxy,
Royale Shyne, Royale Luxury Emulsion, Apcolite Premium Emulsion, Tractor Emulsion and Royale
Lustre brands. APL markets exterior paints under Apex Ultima Protek, Apex Ultima, Apex and Ace
brands. The company offers exterior textures under Apex Duracast Venezio, Apex Duracast DholpurTex,
Apex Ultima Allura Graniza, Apex Ultima Allura Torino, Apex Duracast CrossTex, Apex Duracast
RoughTex, Apex Duracast SwirlTex, Apex Duracast FineTex and Apex Duracast PebbleTex brands. The
company offers metal finishes under Premium Satin Enamel, Premium Gloss Enamel and Premium Semi
Gloss Enamel. APL offers wood finishes under Woodtech Polyester, Woodtech Emporio PU, Aquadur

polysiloxane and glass flake coatings, heat resistant paints, tank lining coatings, surface tolerant and
recoat coating systems, among others; powder coatings for the industries manufacturing refrigerators, air
conditioners, household electrical and other goods (such as fans, lights fittings and hardware), industrial
electrical goods and equipment (including distribution boxes, control panels and generator sets),
appliances and furniture. APL offers a variety of road markings, including hot applied retro reflective
thermoplastic material, acrylic retro-reflective water borne paints and water and solvent based road
marking paints. The company also offers floor coatings.
APL operates the home improvement segment through Sleek International Private Limited (Sleek). Sleek
offers a range of kitchen accessories, including base cabinet accessories, corner cabinet accessories,
wall units accessories and miday accessories; hardware and fittings products including square plastic
washer, wall cabinet hanging bracket set, fascia clip, glass support set, glass support groove
screw/nut/washer, plastic 'L' bracket, chipboard screw, cabinet connector, shelf support, shelf support for
glass, microwave stand, door bumper, agoform mat, telescopic channel, vetro line, easy line, hinges and
hinge for blind corners, base cabinet hanging bracket set, internal wall cabinet hanging bracket set,
minifix, shelving rod, dowel and metallic line; cabinets and shutters; and kitchen appliances including

History
HISTORY
Asian Paints Limited (APL) was founded in 1942 as the Asian Oil & Paint Company. Four associates
formed the company to manufacture paint from a garage in Mumbai, India.
In 2000, APL entered the Middle Eastern market through manufacturing operations in Oman. The new
division processed paint under the name, Asian Paints (Middle East). In the same year, APL also
expanded its geographical operations with the purchase of Pacific Paints, a paint business in Australia.
The company acquired the powder coatings business of Hawcoplast Chemical for INR160 million in 2001.
In 2002, APL entered into Egyptian market with the acquisition of a controlling stake in SCIB Paints. In
the same year, APL also began operations in Bangladesh, marking its 11th joint venture in international
market. Also in 2002, the company acquired a controlling stake in Berger International (BIL), a holding
company incorporated in Singapore.
APL acquired Taubmans Paints in 2003. In the same year, the company received a 9.2% stake held by
the Government of India in ICI.
In 2006, APL commissioned a new manufacturing facility in Bad di, India to manufacture industrial
coatings. In the same year, BIL, a subsidiary of the company, entered into a conditional stock purchase
agreement to sell its stake in Dutch Boy Philippines.
Asian PPG Industries, a 50-50 joint venture of the company, acquired the 2k auto refinish business of ICI
India in 2007. In the same year, the company commissioned its first industrial coatings manufacturing
facility at Taloja, India.
In 2010, the company commenced the commercial production at its new paint manufacturing facility in
Rohtak, India. In the same year, APL signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Maharashtra
Government to setup a project for manufacture of paints and intermediates at Kesurdi MIDC Area, India.
APL approved the merger of PPG Coatings India Private Limited (subsidiary of PPG in India) and AP
Coatings Limited (wholly owned subsidiary of APL) with Asian PPG Industries Limited (APPG) as existing
entity in 2012.
In 2013, the company's new paint plant at MIDC, India commenced commercial production. In the same
year, APL acquired a 51% stake in the kitchen solutions provider, Sleek International Private Limited.
The company entered into a binding agreement with Ess Ess Bathroom Products Pvt. Ltd (Ess Ess) and
its promoters to acquire its entire front end sales business including brands, network and sales
infrastructure in 2014. In the same year, Berger International Limited (BIL), a subsidiary of Asian Paints
(International) Limited (APIL), a wholly owned subsidiary of the company, was delisted from Singapore
Exchange Securities Trading Limited with effect from February 2014 and APIL held and owned
approximately 96.69 per cent of the total number of issued shares of BIL.

In March 2015, Asian Paints (International) Limited, Mauritius, a wholly owned subsidiary of the company,
signed an agreement with the shareholders of Kadisco Paint and Adhesive Industry Share Company had
completed the acquisition of 51% stake in Kadisco Paint and Adhesive Industry Share Company,
Ethiopia. In the same month, APL entered into and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with
the Government of Andhra Pradesh to set up a manufacturing facility for paints and intermediates at Pudi
Village, Rambilli Mandal, Vishakhapatnam District, Andhra Pradesh.
