Bevor using the Pneumatic Tube System please read the manual
carefully. This system is only to be used by persons who have
been trained. Programming of the system requires additional
knowledge.

Do not try to maintain or repair the system on your own.

Opening cases and cover plates can cause live parts to be ex-
posed. Leave all maintenance and repair jobs to a qualified ser-
vice technican.

Attention: Crush danger!

Do not put your hand into any device opening unless that device
is first isolated. Preferably do not open station doors when the
system is running.

Avoid moisture or fluids close to devices. If moisture gets into one

of the system components, immediately switch off this unit and
contact a Service Technician.

There should be no magnetic fields close to any system device.

Attention: PCB’s use CMOS-Parts.

Please do not touch them.

4.2 Area Info

Area Info

This picture shows the system in normal operating mode. Area Info lists the individual
sends in the respective zones.

The first number represents the device number of the sending station.

The second number combination shows first the zone in which the receiving station is
located (e.g. L5 for zone 5) and then the device number of the receiving station. In sin-
gle zone systems or sends within one zone only the device number of the receiving sta-
tion is listed.

To show their status the sends are highlighted in different colours:

White The send is accepted and is waiting for transport.

Grey The carrier is waiting in the bottom tube of the transfer u-

nit for the next stage of the transport.

Green The carrier is in active transport.

4.3 Send List

Send List

The Send List shows all currently entered sends. To help recognise the status of each send
they have been highlighted in different colours.

White The send has been accepted and is waiting for transport
or the carrier is waiting in the bottom tube of the transfer
unit for the next stage of the send.

Green The carrier is in active transport.

Yellow The carrier is being discharged at the receiving station or

arrived at a transfer unit.

Blue The carrier is in the transfer unit and will be transported

further from there.

Red Send break-down or fault.

The columns of the Send List contain the following information:

ID [Link] automatically assigns an identification num-

ber to each send. This helps to identify all the associated
actions that happen during a send in “Output”.

Carrier If carriers are fitted with transponders the carrier identifi-

cation number is listed here.

From>To Shows the device numbers of the send and receive sta-
tions.

Line Shows the zone in which the carrier is currently actively

transported.

From Shows the device number of the send station.

T - Control
To For single zone systems or sends within one zone:
Shows the device number of the receive station.
For sends between two or more zone: Shows the device
number of the next receiving device (e.g. transfer unit).

State Shows the status of the send:

Transport The carrier is in active transport or is waiting in the stor-

age above a transfer unit.

Transport P(x) The carrier has priority (x) and is in active transport.

Transport P(x)+(y) When a carrier with priority arrives at the storage of a

transfer unit and other carriers are already waiting there
for transfer into another zone, the priority of the incoming
carrier will be added to the priorities of the waiting carri-
ers. The waiting carriers receive therefore a priority or a
higher priority and are transferred into the target zone
faster, so that the incoming carrier with priority, or, as the
case may be, high priority, can be transferred as quickly
as possible.

Waiting The carrier is waiting for the next action, e.g. waiting in a
station to be taken into the system or in a transfer unit to
be transferred into the next zone, etc.

Waiting P(x) The carrier has priority and is waiting for the next action,
e.g. waiting in a station to be taken into the system or in a
transfer unit to be transferred into the next zone, etc.

Aktion Gives a description of each active action. The descrip-

tions are listed below (in alpabetical order):

Interrupt (wait) Interruption for various reasons, e.g. motor fault.

Discharge The carrier is either being discharged at the receiving sta-

tion or has arrived at a transfer unit.

Self send Immediately after entering the system the carrier is re-
turned to the sending station, where it is discharged from
the system.
The system starts a self send if e.g. the tube switch in the
station was not activated during th send
.
Charge The carrier is taken into he system at the send station.
The carrier transport has started.

Prepare receive The receive station prepares the for the carrier arrival,
e.g. the receive port is moved into position.

Blower on The blower switches on.

Blower off The blower switches off.

2009-01-14 Page 13 / 52 2006 © Swisslog Rohrpostsysteme GmbH

T - Control
Follow-up Receipt follow-up. The system is ready for the next send,
but the station still performs an operation, e.g. moves into
rest position.

Pfad set: xx The air path to the next device or change of direction is
being prepared. This means all diverters are moved into
position so that air can reach from the blower to the spe-
cific point in the system. The numbers represent the de-
vice numbers of the relevant devices.

Restposition (xx) The device with device number xx is moving into Restpo-
sition.

Transport The carrier is currently in active transport.

Transfer The carrier is at a transfer point between two zones.

Waiting for transfer The carrier is in the storage device of the transfer unit and
is waiting to be transferred into the target zone.

Wait RS(xx); yy from zz (xx) is the device number of the device which is expected
to send the next tube switch signal.
“zz“ is the run time how long the system is going to wait
for the signal.
“yy“ is the time which counts backwards from run time to
zero.

Waiting for remove If a station is fitted with the option “Carrier release lock”
and a carrier has arrived a carrier retrieve code has to be
entered, before the carrier can be discharged. This mes-
sage is shown on the display, when the station waits for
the entry of the code after a carrier has arrived.

6.0 Freerun
The freerun is used to find additional, unknown carriers which are potentially in the system
and to discharge them at a predetermined station (freerun station). The system sucks from all
stations and any carriers found are then transported to the freerun station.

6.1 Global Freerun Menu

Clicking the Send List with the right mouse button opens a context menu, which can be used
to start and stop a freerun of the whole system. This means for multi-zone systems that all
zones start the freerun at the same time.

To choose one of the options click the relevant menu point with the left mouse button.

Freerun Start Clicking this option with the left mouse button starts a freerun of
the whole system. All current and active sends are cancelled.

Freerun End Clicking this option with the left mouse button stops all freerun
sends immediately and puts the system back into operating
mode. If this option is clicked during normal operations all cur-
rent sends will be deleted.

LogOut Clicking this option with the left mouse button ends the extended
access to the password protected menus.

8.0 Runtime
Runtime is defined as the transport time between two locations within a system. The runtime
is important, because the system expects a signal from the next tube switch within the set
runtime. If this signal is not received, the system goes automatically into “send repeat” mode.
Therefore, the runtime has to be long enough to ensure the carrier has time to reach the next
tube switch. On the other hand, the runtime should not be too long, because it also deter-
mines the time of the “send repeat“ operation and therefore might delay the start of a freerun
unnecessarily.

In order to be able to use this function in a meaningful way, it is important that all tube
switches in the transport tubes are working correctly.

Runtimes

Runtime Log

Runtime calculation

Runtime The table lists all the connections between the devices in both
directions. The list is in order of device from to device to.
