Quantifiers

(a little-a few- a lot)

What are quantifiers?


Quantifiers are used to give information about quantity (the number of something). Lot
suggest a large quantity of something (countable & uncountable), whilst little
(Uncountable) and few (countable) mean: not as much, or not as many. However, if you
use a little or a few this means: a small amount!

A little: We use a little with singular uncountable nouns, to indicate there’s a small
quantity. (Utilizamos a little con sustantivos no contables en singular, para indicar que hay
una cantidad pequeña)
A few: We use a few with plural countable nouns, to indicate there’s a small quantity.
(Utilizamos a few con sustantivos contables en plural, para indicar que hay una cantidad
pequeña)
A lot: We use “a lot of” for countable and uncountable nouns. to indicate there’s a large quantity
of something. (Utilizamos “a lot of” para sustantivos contables y no contables. Nos sirve para
indicar que hay una gran cantidad de algo)

Examples:

1. I’ve got a lot of apples

2. I’ve got a lot of Friends

3. I’ve got a lot of milk

4. There’s a lot of juice
