5 APPENDIX E: ROLE PROPILE – SINGALLING DESIGNER

ROLE: Design Engineer

REPORTS TO: Engineering Manager

1.1 Objectives

Assist with signaling and/or telecommunication engineering and consultancy activities


To ensure that design, preparation meet the requirements of the contract.

Apply relevant design, construction, technical, legal and safely standards applicable to
Engineering activities to provide a professional quality service that is cost effective.

Responsible, in line with client instructions, for design of signaling design work to the
Required safety standards necessary to achieve the provision of safe signaling in
design.

Produce reports and, where required, make recommendations for improvements.

1.2 Principal Activities

Produce designs of Application logic, Interface & VDU to meet contract requirements
within agreed time-scales and performance parameters.

Assist in determination of Engineering legislation and standards relating to your


Engineering discipline and assist with their implementation as directed.

Co-operate with quality, safety and environmental objectives and contribute, where
Appropriate, to Ansaldo STS commitment for continual improvement.

1.3 Main Tasks & Responsibilities

Perform all work to produce an end product that-

• Design and verification of Application logic of vital and Non-vital card file,
Interface and VDU Layout.
• Incorporate Input changes in Design.
• Simulation of Application data testing using MISS (Micrlok II Interlocking
Simulation System).
• Meets the needs of the client.
• Coordinates with team members related to Technical issue.
• Technical Interaction with client regarding design queries.
