Tudor Skit
Objective: Use the individual information researched to create a skit with peers which synthesizes and
summarizes the knowledge.
Suggestions: Allow this choice to count as two combined tasks on the Tic-Tac-Toe board; writing the script
(1st score) performing the skit (2nd score) due to the increased work effort and difficulty level of this option.
Tic Tac Toe Description
Write and perform a skit in a group, using the information you have thoroughly researched on the
topics, in the performance.
Create a character with unique personality and reactions to events.
Write a skit with peers that combines researched information from different topics.
Perform the skit for the class showing researched information clearly and interestingly.
You will be required to do individual and group work for this task.

Teacher Information
Groups should be 3 or 4 people.
“Tudor Script Pre-writing” is done as a group. “My Tudor Character” is done as
individuals. Students meet again as a group and write the script and actions
together.
May need to meet with the groups to scaffold the pre-writing (see samples)
When writing the script, each student should generate and write their own
character’s lines in their own handwriting.
To determine a student’s participation in script writing, a group participation
rubric (can be found online) is suggested or have each student give a score of 1-
3.
Script format should show character who is speaking or acting and actions in
between. Settings and scene changes should be noted as well for scores of 4 in
script writing.
Script Example
Setting: Farmer is working in the field with his cow.
Enter farmer’s wife. Farmer keeps plowing as wife talks.
Farmer’s wife: “Husband! You will not believe what I just heard! Our King Henry, wants to divorce
Queen Catherine! Everyone in the village is talking about it.”
Farmer stops working and looks at his wife with disbelief.
Farmer: “Is there no end to this ridiculousness? The queen is a good and respectable wife who is
faithful. God bless Queen Catherine. Ever since his Majesty has been courting with that Anne lady
things have been no good for us. Taxes are rising to pay for all of her finery and parties and such.
Queen Catherine is a Godly woman and you won’t see her going about in such clothes.”
Farmer shakes his head.
Farmer’s wife: (slyly) “Speaking of the new fashions, its been said that puff sleeves are an absolute
must. None of my dresses have them and I don’t know how I could hold my head up in polite company
without at least one fashionable dress.”
Farmer: There will be no new dresses this year since the taxes have increased, and that’s the end of it.
Wife pouts and stomps away and farmer continues to plow the field.
Setting changes to the barn where the farmer is putting the cow away for the night.
Farmer talking to cow: “That was a good bit of work today, Bessie. I bet you’re ready for a nice break.”
Cow: “Mooooo.”
