What approaches could ABD employ to estimate the firm`s sales
potential for markets in Europe and other affluent economies?
ABD (Advanced Biometrical Devices Inc.) was founded by Dr. Richard Bentley, a
surgeon who developed medical devices that help the wound-healing process in the eastern
United States and he believed that he could share world-wide his creation in regards of helping
his colleagues from all over the world with ABD`s devices called Speedheal, that promote
healing and reduce postsurgical pain, by pulsing electrons through the bandage covering the
wound.
He met a very high demand of the product in the United States, and began a strategic plan
about starting to handle international transactions. The internationalization of his product came
with a lot of success because the demand was extremely high on Europe and all other continents,
a fact that was not expected by Dr. Bentley. Their success was also because his products were
easy to handle and light. As a result of the product`s features, the Speedheals were easy to
deliver through air, and if one would be ruined, it would be very easy for the company to replace
it. But, on the other hand Speedheals were very sensitive to temperature changes, and a major
step for the business would have been to open warehouses in Europe, because the temperature
was certain different. This would also add a plus on the transportation.
