Replace the Display Module
TIP: If the replacement of the display module is part of the upgrade to SW V4.X.X or higher
(Upgrade kit CPU168 c 111, ID No. 06651518001, containing new Display Module V2, new PCB
Mainboard V2, new software) then proceed according to the specific upgrade instruction: SW
Update V3.0.3.1146 to V4.1.0.1309 (new CPU)
TIP: The display module may be delivered with a software version which is not the most actual
one. After the installation of the new display module, the latest actual software has to be installed
once again.
TIP: Usually a removal of the Display Module causes that the current date and time settings get
lost. After restarting the instrument, go to <Utilities> <Configuration> <Date and Time>. If
necessary, correct the settings for the date and time.
Parts Required
TIP: The display module is available in 2 different versions. Make sure that you have the correct
display module version for your instrument.
• DISPLAY MODULE (04793226001) (for systems with “old” CPU modules and SW V.2.X.X. or
V3.X.X.)
• DISPLAY MODULE V2 (06651496001) (for systems with “new” CPU modules and SW V4.X.X)
How to distinguish the 2 versions of the display module:
The versions of the display modules can be distinguished by their touch screens.
• A) “Old” version: The cable for the background illumination is a 2-wire cable.
• B) “New” version V2: The cable for the background illumination is a flat cable.

CAUTION
Existing data may get lost
The display module is delivered with an empty database. If an export of the existing database is not
possible before the replacement, all data stored in the database will be lost after the replacement.
If possible export the database before exchanging the display module.
NOTICE
Electrostatic discharge ESD
Electrostatic discharge can damage electronic parts.
Refer to the Safety chapter to take measures against ESD.

Procedure
1. If possible export the existing database to back up the data. Proceed as described in chapter
“Export Import Database”.
2. Press the STOP button and shut down the instrument. (Login required.)
3. As soon as the display gets dark, power off the instrument with the main switch.
4. Move the transfer head to the sample area and remove the left side service flap.
5. Move the transfer head to the left side and remove the middle and right side service flap.
6. Remove the right side cover of the instrument.
7. Remove the reagent disk if not already done by the customer.
8. Remove the sample tray.
9. Loose the 2 screws of the sample tray unit base plate and move the whole sample tray unit
slightly. In this way you have better access to the display module.
10. Remove the printer module faceplate.
11. Loosen a bit the display fixation screw and open the display upwards.

12. Remove the black insulation of the analyzer rotor top.
13. Disconnect J3a, J3b and the grounding strap on the right side of the display module.
14. Loose (but do not remove) the 4 screws which fix the display module to the instrument base
plate.
15. Lift the display module up until you have access to the USB connector.
16. Loose the 2 screws on the USB connector and remove the connector. (On the latest version of
the display module it is not necessary anymore to remove the screws completely.)
17. Lift the display module out of the instrument completely.
18. Follow the procedure in reverse order to install the new display module.
19. A removal of the Display Module causes that the current date and time settings get lost.
After restarting the instrument, go to <Utilities> <Configuration> <Date and Time>. If necessary,
correct the settings for the date and time.
TIP: Keep in mind: The instrument will not initialize in case the the middle service flap is
open. Reinstall the service flaps or activate the service flap closure switch temporarily.
20. Because the display module may be delivered with a different or old SW version, it is mandatory
to install the latest software once again after finishing the replacement.

Keep in mind: The latest software version is different, depending of which kind of
display module you have installed.
Display Module V1 (with “old” CPU): SW V3.X.X
Display Module V2 (with “new” CPU): SW ≥V4.X.X
21. Optional:
The software update procedure deletes all installed language files except 'English'. It is
necessary to reinstall the favored language file after the software update.
Refer to chapter “Install Language Software”.
22. If a backup of the old database is available, import this database as described in chapter “Export
Import Database”.
23. Perform an ‘Air/Water Calibration’. (The air / water calibration data has not been imported.
Existing data have been deleted.)
Choose <Utilities>, <Maintenance> and perform the service action <Abs. Air/Water Calibration>.
Follow the online instructions provided on the display.
