Movie Review:

Based on his love of music and film, director John Carney whose work is known
through the film Once (2007) and Begin Again (2014) again shed a film that raised a similar
theme about the adventure of a teenager band of school titled Sing Street. This movie may
feel like a mediocre and familiar movie, about a teenager who formed a band to take the heart
of the idol. But Sing Street is a film that speaks volumes and includes a movie that is easy to
love and love, with a complete package of things about romance, family, school and social
education for teenagers with comedy and exciting, lovable and fun music.

Conor (Ferdia Walsh-Peelo) had to face the problem between his father's argument
Robert (Aidan Gillen) and his mother Penny (Maria Doyle Kennedy), constrained by an
increasingly unfavorable relationship as well as economic problems that led to the possibility
of a second divorce. Conor who can not stand the condition of his family decided to move to
a new school, sying street but in his new school he also had to get other new problems, from
bad guys Barry (Ian Kenny) who always membully it and problems against the principal,
Brother Baxter (Don Wycherley) who sanctioned him only because his shoe-color problems
did not fit school rules.

But Conor's life begins to change since Raphina (Lucy Boynton), a beautiful and
mysterious girl who lives across from her school who dreams of being a model makes her fall
in love. In order to take the heart of the girl, Conor also set to create an impromptu band
called Sing Street and offers Raphina to become a model of his music video clip. Assisted by
Conor's older brother Brendan (Jack Reynor) with a high musical taste, gave him so many
roles to learn deeper, to work on music, lyrics, and video clips he created.

Using classic material, Sing Street became an engrossing drama about the life of a
teenager in the 1980s, in the city of Dublin, Ireland. Because using the narration and the usual
and easily recognizable story, does not mean Sing Street boring, precisely this film has
everything that is easy attached and loved by the audience, easy to follow the path from start
to finish. In addition, the film has a handful of issues of family problems, parental quarrels,
economic issues, and bonding relationships between Conor and Brendan as inspiring siblings.
Sing Street also introduces to Conor's school life, from the messy school environment, the
bully, the teenage children who smoke, as well as the strict school rules, which take the issue
of moral, juvenile and social education.

And that is still part of the story given by John Carney, because there are still conflict
stories that are equally as fun as touching romance teenager story. There is a lovable
chemistry among the main characters played by Ferdia Walsh-Peelo and Lucy Boynton, both
able to portray a love story that feels classic, memorable and behind it all there is a twist
between their emotional relationship, such as the love affair dilemma and the realization of
dreams that became a wall of barriers between them, including Raphina who wanted to go to
London to leave Dublin.

For his music direction, As we know Caney is an expert in composing music lyrics
and rhythms that fit the story, even the most talked and affirming lyrics in this movie, such as
his song, "The Riddle of the Model", " Go Now "," Girls "and" Brown Shoes ", as the original
80's alternative rock music that not only able to tell the feelings Conor wants to convey
through his song, but also how he criticizes all the issues both the family environment and the
school.

Well, Sing Street is a movie that exceeds my expectations of a music movie, very
satisfying. A perfect package presented by John Carney with his easy-to-reach and alternative
story. There's fun music behind family dramas, schools and constructive criticism, especially
the movie is hinting about a metaphor of the 'love story' journey that along with the
development of his character turns into a big dream. A joyful, funny, and cute journey about
a blend of love and ambition in a remarkable teenage life.

The Jungle Book

Movie review:

After watching "The Jungle Book," I am more and more convinced that man is the
ruler of this earth. Yes, humans occupy the highest hierarchy as creatures that control
everything. The tiger with his dashing can get prey with one shot. Elephant is a crushing
machine with a large body. The wolf hunting instinct poses a threat to other animals. But,
man! Again, beyond what they all have.

"The Jungle Book" was adapted from the same book titled Rudyard Kipling's 1894
edition. In 1967, Walt Disney had lifted it into an animated film (2D of course). The story
focuses on Mowgli (Neel Sethi), a boy who lived and raised as a child by a herd of wolves.
Akela (Giancarlo Esposito), is the group leader. Meanwhile Raksha (Lupito Nyong'o), acting
as his mother.

Mowgli's story is very easily associated with Tarzan. Both live in the forest since
childhood and raised by wild animals. Besides the wolves, Mowgli is also cared for by a
panther named Bagheera (Ben Kingsley), who has picked him up in the woods. As a mentor,
Bagheera trained him in order to adapt to the way wolves. But the instinct as a human always
rebels out.

Once upon a time, drought struck the forest. Almost the water in the whole shrinks.
But, there are places where water puddles remain. Due to the shrinkage of the water, a large
stone mound appeared in the middle. The animals gather there for a drink. That period
became a ceasefire for all forest dwellers.

This is the most interesting sequence throughout the movie. How peace is achieved
through disaster, Jon Favreau describes with great admiration. I do not know what to say. It's
just that this sequence is so interesting to me. All kinds of animals both prey and predator,
can gather in a meaningful frame.

Sheer Khan (Idris Elba), a most feared Bengal tiger suddenly appeared there. His
arrival poses a threat to other animals. No exception for Akela. Sheer Khan sensed Mowgli's
presence as a figure to be abandoned. Bad experiences with humans have generated
enormous hatred in her. Here we learn that no matter how tigers, humans are a nightmare for
them.

The conflict in the film begins when Sheer Khan starts hunting Mowgli. For safety's
sake, Mowgli left the wolves despite the heavy hearts of Raksha. In his adventure, Mowgli
gets a new lesson. He learned how to respect nature and its inhabitants. Understand the
wisdom of other animals as part of the universe's wealth.

"The Jungle Book" is a lightweight film to understand. It's also a very fun movie,
tense on one side, and touching on the other side. If we understand the context, this film tells
about the search for identity. Mowgli has been treated by a wolf since childhood. He became
part of them. So, the solution to the problem here is how Mowgli can re-discover "who this is
really."

Like Studio Ghibli, Disney again created their own fantasy world here. "The Jungle
Book" is the place where Disney spills all its ideology about the power of fantasy itself. This
film is a powerful perfect dish almost on the whole line; directing, a copy of Justin Marks, the
cast's cool performance, and of course the special effects!

"Avatar" (2009) has stamped the world of cinema through its special effects. With the
film, James Cameron showed that he was able to present the universe according to his ideas.
Not wanting to miss, Jon Favreau challenged him in this "The Jungle Book". Until now,
"Avatar" still makes me fascinated by the touch of his imagination. But "The Jungle Book,"
leaves a deeper and warmer impression on the heart.

Neel Sethi, as a young star is a stealer scene here. Naturally, only he is a tangible
'human' throughout the movie (I try not to include the character of the father). Neel Sethi was
born for this role. If Mowgli is in the real world, of course I would love to have friends with
him. Adorable. Not to forget, Bill Murray with his comic role as a bear named Baloo, also a
magnet in this movie.

Movie review:

Two superhero films produced by DC and Warner Bros Pictures, Batman v Superman
and Suicide Squad, also included in DCEU (DC Extended Universe) are quite absurd. But
DC seems to get a fresh breeze with the presence of his latest superhero movie, Wonder
Woman.

In theme, Wonder Woman is different from the two previous films. In addition to
working more neatly, Patty Jenkins film also has a lighter topic with enough action scenes hit
and humor that interspersed each scene. The tradition of DC movies that want to look even
darker seems to be trying to be abandoned.

One of the strengths of Wonder Woman is that the film is able to cover the
weaknesses in the film. Starting from the CGI, the main enemies, plots, and dialogue as if not
done carefully. There are always some action scenes where Wonder Woman looks like an
animated doll that moves like a rubber. The peak occurs in the last part, the weakest part of
the film. But thanks to Patty Jenkins's shrewdness, the shortcomings are faded with the
presence of other charms that can make audiences understand.

Wonder Woman tells of Diana who lives in Themyscira with her Amazon girls. He
was trained as a child, prepared to face the threat of Ares who could attack Themyscira
anytime. One day, Steve Trevor was a stranded American soldier in Themyscira. Diana's
humanitarian mission continued with the journey to the other side of the globe to stop World
War I.

As a director, Patty Jenkins does not look rusty even though she's 14 years old (after
Monster, 2003) does not film the cinema. In this movie Patty Jenkins learn from mistakes
often made by previous DC films. Mistakes such as letting the producers intervene too much
are avoided. The result is that Wonder Woman becomes a more intact and more flowing
spectacle. Not messy like Suicide Squad, or edited carelessly like Batman v Superman.

One way Patty Jenkins makes the audience not focus on the weakness of this movie is
the way he directs Gal Gadot. Gal Gadot is a charming actress, but has not tested his acting
skills. With his limitations, Patty Jenkins can still maximize his acting. Wonder Woman
character was deliberately made sebagaisuperhero still plain and still stutter with the outside
world. Plain but have littleprincess syndrome, like the princess who just came out of his
beautiful palace.

In order to act Gadot Gal does not look stiff, other characters are strengthened. One
that deserves a thumbs up is Steve Trevor, a character whose comics are told as a Wonder
Woman companion. This character successfully played by Chris Pine with slick. Chris Pine
did help make the Wonder Woman shine. Movies that have a thin border between loved or
even hated is saved by the presence of Pine. 36-year-old actor was also successfully revive
the character Trevor with charm and kharismanya.

Another plus point of this movie is the set that worked almost perfectly. The scenes in
Themyscira look so beautiful. Patty Jenkins was able to capture the charm of Basilicata, Italy
which was the filming location for the island of Themyscira. In addition, the background of
World War I that has never been taken for superhero-themed movie also looks wah. It is able
to provide a very interesting scene of war.

However, as great as Patty Jenkins covers the flaws of the film, there are still some
parts that if noticed look quite disturbing. Though this film has great potential to be the best
filmsuperhero ever made if only worked more seriously. Movie duration becomes the most
annoying problem. Somehow Wonder Woman had to be made into a 140 minute version for
release in theaters. And if diipotong in some parts, this film will not lose its meaning. With
unnecessary duration all this time, some scenes even look boring.

Special effects are also an imperfect aspect. In the final scene, when the Wonder
Woman fights off his enemies it seems awry. The last scene was anticlimactic compared to
previous scenes throughout the movie. Dialogue also becomes annoying. Chemistry Diana
and Steve Trevor are actually quite warm and interesting. It's just that their dialogue
sometimes sounds nuts and is too long.

Beyond all its advantages and disadvantages, Wonder Woman remains a film worth
watching in 2017. The lack of adult content makes this movie suitable to watch with family.
Unlike previous DC films, Wonder Woman has an easier to understand storyline. Especially
the theme of a female hero is also an interesting topic that should be witnessed for you
women.
