W1 is the known Loading

L1 is the Span at the known Loading

W2 is the required Loading
L2 is the Span at the required Loading
Sizing of Cable Tray
Space between edge of cable tray and first feeder =(1/2) D of first feeder

Space between two feeders = the max. D of the cables

Space between spare distance and the last feeder = max. D of large feeder on the cable tray

Spare distance = 20% of the chosen cable tray

Final space distance is the remaining distance in the cable tray after spare distance

Steps of cable tray sizing

calculate the sum of the first three mentioned values

compare this sum with the standard width of cable trays excluded the spare distance
select the nearest standard width of the cable trays available
calculate the Loading percentage by dividing the sum of all feeders weight by weight the cable tray suppor
