1. Population explosion is a curse and is damaging the development of the country and its
society. With the rapidly increasing population, the developing countries are already
facing a lack in their resources, the availability of which is reduced further, thus leading
to increased poverty, malnutrition, and other large population – related problems.
2. The recent increase in world population has been caused by the following major
reasons, one is decrease in birth due to medical improvements. Another is increase in
death rates due to better medical facilities and advancements in the field of medicine.
3. Family Planning is the process of regulating and spacing the births of children. It is
involuntary and conscious effort of married couples to make informed decisions on
when to have and not to have children, how many children to have, when to stop at the
least risk to the health of the mother and the best chance of survival of the child.
4. Reproductive Health and Population Development Act of 2008 known as the RH Law,
defines Family Planning as a program which enables couples, and individuals to decide
freely and responsibly the number and spacing of their children. Thus, family planning
means responsible parenthood for it aims to prepare married couples for the
responsibility of procreation and socialization of children.
5. There are factors affecting the population to change, these are Birth rate, Death rate
and Migration. With these factors affecting it, the formula in getting the population is
(Births + Emigration) – (Deaths + Immigration).
6. One health concerns in family planning is many Filipino couples are unaware of the
mother and child health dangers brought by too close and or too many pregnancies. For
pregnant women below 20 and over 35 years with more than four pregnancies, the birth
rates of child are high.
7. There are two kinds of poverty, Absolute Poverty and Relative Poverty. Absolute
Poverty define in terms of cash income or expenditure in food, clothing and shelter)
8. Relative Poverty is defined in terms of median family income. People earning lower than
the median family income are considered poor.
9. Air Pollution are substances which are accumulated in air. The power and heat
generation are among the major sources of this pollution as well as the burning of solid
wastes, industrial process and especially transportation.

10. Noise Pollution is also known as unwanted sound that are carried by air. Land pollution
is brought by the degradation of the Earth’s land surface through misuse of soil by poor
agricultural practices, industrial wastes dumping, and indiscriminate disposal of urban
wastes and mineral exploitation.

III. Essay. (5 points)

1. If you will be a leader in a community, what kind of community would you build-up?
Defend your answer.

2. Identify the pollution problems in your community. What can you do as a youth to
minimize these problems? Defend your answer.

3. With the present administration, do you think the poverty rate in our country has
decreased? Explain.

4. Do you agree that the aggressiveness of the youth today can be a cause of population
explosion? Explain your answer.

5. “A stronger family makes a stronger nation”. Explain.
