Universal Design for Learning (UDL): For this assignment, Students will be asked to make an e-book about
one of the three developments in the standard. The UDL ideas that are supported are;
 By making a PowerPoint, Students can obtain the information visually and auditorily.
 Students also have choice as to which topic they would like to work on and learn more about.
 Students have the opportunity to learn about topics that are relevant to them

Lesson idea implementation:


The teacher will introduce the study of Developments in America with a short video about the letter of their
choice. The teacher will then inform the students about the e-book they will be designing. The students will
divide into three groups, for the different information in the standard (9/11, collapse of Soviet Union, or the
Internet). Before the student take off on their own, an example will be shown on the board. This is the
example attached to the Weebly page. This is just a guideline of what is expected from the students.
They will have creative freedom in designing and researching the information that will be in their e-books.
The students will then take time to complete their e-books. Once the three groups are completed, they are
now considered experts in their field. The groups will then present their e-book to the other students. When
finalizing the lesson, provide students feedback on their work by using a rubric and having open conversation
about the topics post presentation. To extend the learning level, the groups could add an MP4 to their book
or we could publish them and put all three on the class website for at home access.

Reflective Practice: These activities could positively impact student learning. By posting them to the
classroom website, the students will have access to the materials any time they are near a device! We can use
these tools to study for exams or become experts on the topics. Another tool we could add would be a
podcast about the topic of interest or a different topic.
