Learning Objective Matter

2.3 The student will investigate and understand basic properties of


solids, liquids, and gases. Key concepts include

● a) identification of distinguishing characteristics of solids,


liquids, and gases;

● b) measurement of the mass and volume of solids and


liquids; and

● c) changes in phases of matter with the addition or


removal of energy.

Pedagogy Online Activity During this lesson, the students and the teacher will start out by
having a zoom meeting on their computers. Each student will have
their own chromebook. This zoom meeting will start out by having
the teacher sharing his or her screen and presenting a powerpoint
on the states of matter. This powerpoint will be shared with each
student as well so they can follow along on their own if they want to.
During this presentation, the teacher will be asking questions to see
what the students already know. There will also be a video on
matter in the powerpoint that the kids will be able to watch for
further explanation. Also included in the powerpoint will be fun
slides where the kids have to guess which object goes in the
categories of solid, liquid, and gas. After this fun zoom meeting and
lesson, the kids will go to the simulation link the teacher will provide
for them. In this simulation, the students will be able to see the
different states of matter and the characteristics of each. They can
also see what happens to each type of matter as they are heated or
cooled. This simulation will be a fun way to get the students involved
online. It will also show them that you can have fun while learning
about the different states of matter.
