CONJUNCTION
➤ Conjunctions are words that are used to
join words, sentences and phrases.
➤ And, because, or, before, since, as, till,
after, that, than, moreover and however
are conjunctions.
➤ We can make longer sentences using
conjunctions.
➤ Some conjunctions are interchangeable
➤ Do not begin a sentence with conjunctions
like, and, since, so and because.
TYPES OF CONJUNCTION
➤ Coordinating conjunction
➤ Subordinate conjunction
➤ Correlative conjunction
1. COORDINATING CONJUNCTION
➤ Among the three types of conjunctions, this is
probably the most common one. The main function of
coordinating conjunction is to join words, phrases,
and clauses together, which are usually grammatically
equal. Aside from that, this type of conjunctions is
placed in between the words or groups of words that
it links together, and not at the beginning or at the
end.
➤ And- is used to join sentences , ideas that are similar
➤ But is used to join words that are opposite in nature.
➤ Or- is used to join sentences where a choice is given.
2. SUBORDINATING CONJUNCTIONS
2. Subordinating Conjunction
This type of conjunctions are used in linking two unequal words, phrases
or sentences, where one is dependent on the other.
3. COORELATIVE CONJUNCTIONS
The correlative conjunctions are simply pairs of
conjunctions which are used to join equal sentence
elements together.
