5. Which physical quantity has its SI unit as (i) C – m (ii) Vm
6. Will Gauss’s law hold good if Coulomb’s law of force does not satisfy inverse square law?
7. What is an electron volt? Express 1 Joule in terms of electron volts.
8. What will be the nature of equipotential surface if the field uniformly increase in magnitude but remains in
the same direction (say z- direction).
9. Why the electric field on the outer surface of a hollow charged conductor is normal to the surface? (2)
10. A charge of 6.75 µ C in an electric field is acted upon by a force 2.5 N. Find the potential gradient at this point.
(2)
11. S1 and S2 are two hollow concentric spheres enclosing charges Q and 2Q respectively as shown in Fig.
(i) What is the ratio of the electric flux through S1 and S2 ?
(ii) How will the electric flux through the sphere S1 change, if a medium of dielectric constant 5 is
introduced in the space inside S1 in place of air ? (2)
12. Prove that ∫ E • dl = 0 . (3)
13. A charge Q is distributed over two concentric hollow spheres of radii r and R (>r) such that the surface charge
densities are equal. Find the potential at the common centre. (4)
14. Three concentric metallic shells A, B and C of radii, a, b and c (a < b < c) have surface charge densities +σ, -σ and
+σ respectively, as shown in the fig.
(i) Find potential of three shells A, B, C (ii) If shells A and C are at the same potential, obtain the relation
between radii a, b, c.
15. State and prove Gauss theorem. Or Find electric field near a charge infinite rod with linear charge density λ
