People think that old buildings should be knocked down and give way to the

new buildings. Do you agree or disagree? How important are old buildings to us?

Simple and not even so-close-to-perfect answer


Old buildings are rising in every place in the world, showing the art of
impermanence and making us remember the past. Many argue, is it worth to leave
them and even spend some money on its restavration or simply destroy them and
build a new ones.

In times of globalization and when population in the world are rising every
year, it becomes important for economies to build the buildings that could allow to
live there as many peoples as possible, making it high and beautiful. Sometimes,
before this process the question rises about finding a place, where it can be done.
And some old constructions are standing on the way, so they need to be put down
and destroyed. One of the reason of doing this is also their dangerous condition. As
time passes, the buildings become more susceptible to erosion process, it’s parts
can start to falling down. So you can go there anymore, if it’s an old church for
example, caphedral or museum, built centuries ago. It’s always needs some
restavration and often no one can afford to do this, so the place can be sell and
open the way for new buildings to take it’s place.

Personally, I think that old constructions are having a huge value for society,
especially those special ones, built in gothic or renaissance style, mirroring to us it’s
old story, showing memories and culture of the past. There is feeling of awe and
astonishment, walking down on the modern city streets and enjoying the view of an
archaic buildings, rising to the sky. So, definitely they deserve to be improved to
better condition, which will help them to stay longer as beautiful as they are for as
long as possible. Moreover, an old constructions is one of the main interest for a
tourists, who want to visit your city just for the reason of enjoying there view.

Overall, it’s hard to underestimate the value of a great old building, therefore,
it needs to be preserve and stay the part of our cities.
