Journal Analysis
1. Theories those are use in the article
When a person enters old age, various changes occur that are physical, mental, and
social. One problem that is often experienced by the elderly is stress. Stress can increase
blood pressure intermittently, if stress lasts for a long time it can lead to hypertension.
Stress is a natural reaction of the body to defend itself from stressors . Stress can be
overcome by adaptive coping adaptations so that they are able to adapt to factors that cause
stressors. Coping adaptation is an individual's defense response to a problem, whether
responding positively or maladaptive.
One theory of nursing that can be connected with these two things is the theory of
adaptation of Callista Roy. Callista Roy's theory explains how individuals are able to
improve health by maintaining adaptive behavior and changing maladaptive behavior. The
theory emphasizes the ability of hypertensive sufferers to adapt in dealing with stressors to
avoid hypertension.
2. Research methods
This research is a quantitative study with a correlative analytic design
3. Participant
The population in this study were all the elderly who had hypertension in the working
area of the Pontianak Perumnas II Public Health Center with a population of 373 elderly who
had hypertension. As for the sample in this study, there were 79 people.
4. Data source
Structured questionnaire sheets, namely the Percieved Stress Scale (PSS) questionnaire
and the Coping Adaptation Processing Scale (CAPS) questionnaire.
5. Procedure and techniques
a. Procedure
This research is a quantitative study that uses a Correlative Analytic design to see
the relationship between stress variables and process adaptation variables using the Cross
approach
b. Technique
The sampling technique used is convenience sampling.
6. Strengths and weaknesses of research
a. Strengths
Explain the relationship between stress and coping processes with hypertension
sufferers and in his research also discussed the results of the same research with the
research conducted so as to provide a more complete explanation.
b. Weakness
In this study, it is better to add variables related to other hypertension factors, as
well as adding or enlarging the population, where this is needed because seen from the
number of asus hypertension experienced by the elderly is quite large.

further develop research
