ABSTRACT
Study of radiation heat transfer by black plate and test plate

INTRODUCTION
All substances in absolute temperature emit thermal radiation. Thermal radiation is
an electromagnetic wave and requires no material medium for propagation. All
bodies can emit radiation and also have the ability to absorb all of part of the
radiation from around toward it. An idealized black surface color is one that
absorbs all incident radiation reflectivity and transmissivity zero. The radiant
energy per unit time per unit area body surface is called as transmission power and
generally denoted by E. The surface emissivity is the ratio of the emission power
from the surface to the emissive power of a black surface at the same temperature.

Ensure the mains on/off.
Ensure the control panel is at off position and dimmer is at zero position.
Switch on the mains on/off switch.
Set the test and black plate heater input voltage in range of 40-100 V.
Record the readings of voltmeter, ampere meter and temperature sensors for
1.5 hours.
When experiment is over set the dimmer stat to zero position.
Switch OFF the mains ON/OFF switch.
Switch OFF electric supply to the set up.

DISCUSSIONS
After my group members done with records the voltmeter, ampere meter and
temperature sensors. My group discuss about the graph we done after our
experiment. So, test plate have the highest temperature than black plate. The outer
temperature,T3 is being in steady state after 1.5 hours. Besides that, the more the
time rise, the higher the Es. The experimental setup consists of two plates, the test
plate is composed of a mica heater. Black plate is identical to the test plate, but its

surface blackens. Like everyone physical properties, size and temperature are
equal. Both plates are compatible with individual carriers in an enclosure with a
transparent side to ensure consistent atmospheric conditions. Temperature sensors
are provided for measuring the temperature of each plate and the surroundings.
CONCLUSIONS
This experiment aim is to record the reading of voltmeter, ampere meter and
temperature sensors. Each 10 minutes we need to records the reading, after 1.5
hours the reading is being in steady state.
