CANDIDATE REFLECTIONS:

1. Briefly describe the field experience. What did you learn about technology facilitation and
leadership from completing this field experience?
This field experience proved to be most intriguing and beneficial of all the field experiences I
completed for this course. Having recently taken a new post at a new school the Shared Vision
field experience and research allowed me to gain insight and knowledge of our school’s
technology literacy amongst not only our students, but more importantly our teachers. The surveys
and researched conducted also gave me insight to the great things our students and teachers are
already doing as well as some of their frustration. Ultimately, this field experience helped me
identify that no technology goals are currently present in the School Improvement Plan nor is
there a common/shared vision for technology at Jackson County Comprehensive High School
(JCCHS). It will be vital as we transgress into our personalized learning initiative set by
leadership that a Shared Vision be created for JCCHS that could improve the overall technology
school climate, accessibility and expectations for students and teachers alike.
2. How did this learning relate to the knowledge (what must you know), skills (what must you
be able to do) and dispositions (attitudes, beliefs, enthusiasm) required of a technology
facilitator or technology leader? (Refer to the standards you selected in Part I. Use the
language of the PSC standards in your answer and reflect on all 3—knowledge, skills, and
dispositions.)
This field experience allowed me to obtain the knowledge required to construct and compose a
shared vision for a school and specifically Jackson County Comprehensive High School.
(JCCHS). Despite JCCHS not currently having a Shared Vision it has begun the conversation of
developing a common vision for technology at JCCHS as well has allowed me to begin to develop
and facilitate a Technology Committee with our Media Specialist. The skills I have acquired
during this experience have allowed me to understand the importance of proper survey
questioning, the relevance of past and present school data, and the importance of researching
multiple sources and views to construct the most realist approach for our school in today’s digital
age. Sharing my dispositions with our administrative team and media specialist through this field
experience has been rewarding and accepting as a future contributor to the Shared Vision plan that
we hope to soon develop once our Technology Committee has been affirmed.
3. Describe how this field experience impacted school improvement, faculty development or
student learning at your school. How can the impact be assessed?
This field experience will impact our school improvement as it will establish the expectations and
standards for students learning with technology as well as teacher using technology for
instruction. It will also develop our faculty in understanding the importance and benefit of using
technology to enhance or enrich instruction not necessarily replace it. This impact will truly be
assessed which the school develops a Common/Shared Vision and/or incorporates a Technology
goal with in School Improvement Plan.
