Project Scope Statement

Project: Wilmont’s Pharmacy Drone Delivery Revision No.: 1.0


Revision Date: 28-March-2020

(1) Purpose:
Build a drone pilot project with IT delivery system where customers can request
products from Pharma Store. And delivery of prescriptions and drugs can be done over a
flying drone. This project should enable Wilmont Pharmacy to test the concept of Drone
delivery. Also will enable Wilmont Pharmacy for quick delivery of prescriptions and drug
to a customer, which will lead to gain of customers. Also, it will reduce the cost of a
delivery person.

(2) Project Goals:


The Goal of the project to build a small drone fleet of size 4 as a prototype of the
delivery system. The drone will be branded as Wilmoth's company. Customization will
be done to existing delivery systems, interfaces, and business processes to conform to
project requirements from Wilmont’s. The flight path of a drone will be limited to the
pre‐approved area within San Francisco. As part of the project scope, the Store Manager
will be trained to use the new IT system. This does not include handling or selection of
customer and Pharma shop. This should be done by Wilmont company. Also, the change
in exists a customer‐service system of Wilmont and its testing is out of scope.

(3) Project Scope Description:


i. Drone Piloting: Four Drone will be customized to meet Wilmont need. The drone
should display Wilmont logo and flight capacity need to change as per
requirement. The new Drone will be assembled which should cost around
$18,034.00 each. A drone needs to be quality tested and all the issues should be
resolve. The drone should able to cover enough distance so that it should cover
the distance between DrugsStore and Custome house.
ii. Flight operation: A team will work on the drone flight path, drone controller,
carrying package customization. Wilmont wants to adopt a temperature‐
controlled product bagging system along with a bubble-type cushioning system
for the customer delivery packaging to ensure that certain temperature‐sensitive
or breakable items are not affected by the delivery process. A drone should
ability to adapt the drone package clamps to this sort of packaging, this will
require a measure of testing to make sure that issues are resolved and that the
new package release systems will work reliably.
iii. New Drone Procurement: To build a new delivery drone, fresh procurement
needs to be done. DroneTech will supply four of these to Wilmont’s for the
prototype project. The cost of the drones will be incorporated into the budget of
your project. Drone Maintenance/Repair parts should also be procured which
include spare drone parts and batteries to be onhand for this project.
iv. DroneTech Delivery system customization: The existing IT Delivery system
needs to be customized so that it looks like a part of Wilmont. Users should not
see it as a separate system. User should able to request the delivery via online or
using a smartphone. Once a request is given user should be provided with the
confirmation as per platform. This should be integrated with Wilmont Online
Order entry system. And special care should be taken for security, reliability,
integrity, interfaces between the systems of the two organizations.
v. Wilmont’s enhanced online order entry: Wilmont should enhance the
online order entry process that will allow customers in the San Francisco area to
register their willingness to have a drone delivery. The system should help in
approve the customer, send a confirmation to the customer. This should be
integrated with DroneTech Delivery system. And special care should be taken for
security, reliability, integrity, interfaces between the systems of the two
organizations.
vi. Coordination and communication with the Wilmont team: A plan for regular
meeting need to be set with Wilmont. Also need to manage and take the change
with a proper approval process from Wilmont’s Change Management.
vii. User Training for Pharma store management: DronTech needs to provide training
to the selected Pharma store managers and staff regarding the new Drone
Delivery system.
viii. Legal compliance of the State should conform for this bot the Wilmont legal
team and DroneTech flight engineer need to work.

(4) Primary Deliverables:


i. Four customize Drone for delivery.
ii. Flight operation that is customized as per Wilmont, this should be able to deliver
a different type of custom package. Should be able to follow a pre-defined flight
path.
iii. The new customized Delivery information system should be provided which is
customized and integrated with the Wilmont online order system.
iv. Users should be trained to use new items delivery system.
v. DroneTech will maintain the Drone for Wilmont.
(5) Deliverable Acceptance Criteria:

i. Drones with Wilmont display logo. Drones should be able to control and flight in
a predefined path. It should be able to carry different types of full stop custom
package.
ii. DroneTech delivery system should be completely integrated with Wilmount
online system. Users should be able to request delivery via online or
smartphone. Users should be notified of the acceptance of request and delivery.
iii. Training should be provided to the operator of changed delivery system and the
drone flight operation.
iv. To maintain the drone, procurement of spare parts and batteries should be
done before starting the operation.
v. Legal compliance from both the company should be met as per the state laws
before starting of prototype drone delivery operation.

(6) Key Milestones:


i. Legal clearance is taken - 5th January
ii. procurement off drone part is done 4 manufacturing new drones. – 10th January
iii. drone customization is done. – 30th April
iv. Flight operation customization is achieved. – 15th June
v. Flight operation test is done. – 30th August
vi. Customization of an existing delivery system is done. – 10st August
vii. Customized delivery system is integrated and tested with Wilmout online order
system. – 1st October
viii. user training is done for use of the delivery system and drone flight operation -
15th October
ix. The final delivery of the complete system is done and operational. – 30th
November

(7) Constraints:
• project expenditures to a maximum of US$1,750,000. That includes new Drone
Procurement, each new delivery drone will cost $18,[Link]
Maintenance/Repair Parts need $20,000
• November 30 to avoid harsh weather in the San Francisco area.
• Change needs at the Wilmont IT system before the pilot project can be used.
DroneTech has no control over the changes and its schedule.
• New kind of Packaging needs for the first time for Drone delivery.
(8) Assumptions:
i. No major changed is needed in Drone technologies
ii. Will be able to use the existing DoneTech Delivery system and there is a need for
customization of it.
iii. No major change request will be there, to meet the timeline.
iv. Training to the Pharma store management can be done in a short time.
v. Customer approval/selection will be done b Wilmont.

(9) Scope Exclusions:


This does not include handling or selection of customer and Pharma shop. This should
be done by Wilmonst company. Also, the change in exist a customer‐service system of
Wilmont and its testing is out of scope.

(10) Reference Documents:


For initial estimate previous customized work that was done before with another
customer for small package delivery is used as a baseline.
