(Three Step) Consider a worker-paced line with three process steps, each of which is staffed with
one worker. The sequence of the three steps does not matter for the completion of the product.
Currently, the three steps are operated in the following sequence.

Step 1 = 3 min/unit    Step 2 = 4 min/unit       Step 3 = 5min/unit

1. What would happen to the inventory in the process if the process were operated as a push
system?

If the process was operated as a push system, then there would be WIP piled up at station 1
and station 2, because of the high throughput rate of these workstations.

2. How would you implement a pull system?

 When, Pull System is implemented it allows you to consume only when there is a demand -
that to at a right time.

 In addition, to its own production it relays the demand information to next station
upstream, ensuring that the upstream resources are paced by demand.

 Here, we implement pull system using Kanban System which helps to reduce waste of any
production process and gives opportunity to reduce overhead cost.

 In this way, external demand is transferred step-by-step through the process by managing
your bottlenecks so your flow does not get stuck and this way pull system is implemented.
