Welcome to the Philippines! We are now at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport. How was
your flight?

Before we go on our bus ride is there anyone of you who needs to use the toilet? It’s on the left
side. Since everything’s settled now, we shall go ahead on boarding the coach.

Can everyone hear me? Let’s do some headcount first. I will accompany you throughout your
stay here in the Philippines. Again I am Sweden and I would also like to introduce to you our
coach captain,

The bus ride to your hotel, which is the Manila Hotel will take about 20mins. Right now I’d
like to familiarize you with some information you need to know.

1. First would be for safety and security, if we are on board the coach please remain seated
always until we have come to a complete stop, wear your seatbelts and do always remain
within the group. For your valuable things, there would be some safety boxes inside the
bus and your respective room at the hotel. Make sure to place your things in there
especially if it’s an important thing like for example, your jewelleries.
2. The Philippines is a tropical island, it has only two seasons; the dry and the wet season.
We’re now having dry season so I suggest that you wear clothes that you feel
comfortable of. Another, I suggest that you bring your water throughout your tour, you
know just to make sure that you’ll stay dehydrated.
3. For the time difference, Philippines is 7 hours ahead of Germany.
4. There would be a minimal fee of 4000 PHP at the hotel, for incidental fee. For the
tipping, that would depend on you, at the hotel of course there would be some staff that
would help you with your luggage. If you need to exchange your money into pesos, you
may use a bank or money exchanger. You are better off to exchange your money and pay
with pesos. As of today, 1 Euro is equal to 61.74 Philippine Peso.
5. Another, the electricity here in the Philippines is 220 volts.
6. Lastly is the food, the Filipino cuisine has a lot to offer but of course if you don’t feel like
eating one you can still find some international foods. We have plenty of restaurants here

that offers different cuisines such as the Western/European cuisine. I suggest you try
some best dishes that we have here like the most popular Adobo.

we’ll be having a city tour around Manila, the tour will start at 9 am sharp and will last for
about 4 hours. We will assemble outside the hotel entrance. Don’t forget your cameras as there
will be lots of opportunities to take pictures. Our first destination tomorrow is the Rizal Park,
after that we’ll also be visiting some areas inside the Intramuros such as the Fort Santiago, and
lastly is the Sm Mall of Asia. We’re going to be pulling up to the hotel in just a few minutes.
Once you’re out of the coach please double check if you have all of your bags with you.

Okay, since we’re all cleared now let’s go. The hotel staff will be bringing your registrations
cards and room keys over and they will be the one take you to your respective rooms.

CITY TOUR COMMENTARY

Greetings Can everyone hear me? It’s a lovely day today, just perfect for our Manila City
tour. I hope you’re all ready for today. Again im Anja and together with me is Mr Ong, our
coach captain. Let’s do some headcount first. Since we’re all complete now, we’re ready to go.
Everyone please remain seated until we’ve come to a complete stop. Just sit back, relax and
enjoy. If you have any questions or concerns, just raise your hand and let me know.

Manila is a city of contrast, where old and new seamlessly combine. Let me first discuss to
you our itinerary for today: the tour shall cover the following destinations.

0900 A short visit at the Rizal Park.

0930 Walled City of Intramuros where old churches still exist.

1230 Mall of Asia *

1330 Head back to the hotel.

Manila Hotel – The Manila Hotel is a historic five-star hotel. It is the oldest premiere hotel in
the Philippines built in 1909 to rival Malacañang Palace, the official residence of the President of
the Philippines and was opened on the commemoration of American Independence It has hosted
numerous world historical persons and celebrities including authors Ernest Hemingway,
entertainers Michael Jackson, The Beatles and many more.

On your right hand side

Rizal Park – We are now at the Rizal Park also known as Luneta Park. Rizal Park is famous
because it has been the spot where the country’s national hero Jose Rizal was executed in front
of the Filipino crowd during the Spanish Colonial Era. Here you’ll find the Rizal Monument,
fronted by a 46m flagpole, and guarded 24/7 by ceremonial soldiers which contains Rizal’s
remains and stands as a symbol of Filipino nationhood. Rizal Park has Japanese and Chinese
gardens, historical markers, plazas, a grand stadium, an observatory, an open-air concert hall, an
artists' sanctuary, a light-and-sound theatre, restaurants, playgrounds, and dozens of fountains.

Quirino Grandstand – known as Independence Grandstand. Just recently everyone, millions of

Roman Catholic Filipinos we’re right here exactly where we are standing. Millions of devotees
of the Nuestro Padre Jesus Nazareno had participated in a procession that started from here going
to the Quiapo Church and that actually happens every single year. On the ninth of January, on
this day every year, millions of devout Filipino Roman Catholics, take part in the procession
known as the Feast of the Black Nazarene. The said feast, venerates a wooden, life-sized figure
of Jesus Christ, frozen in the action of bearing his cross on the way Mount Calvary. The statue
had survived a galleon ship trip to Manila all the way from Acapulco, Mexico. As a matter of
fact, it is the figure’s remarkable indestructibility that believers attach to its holy, healing mystic
powers to. According to many Filipino believers, just touching the statue briefly can cure the
person who touched it of all illnesses. The police estimated 1,150,000 attendees along the
procession route last January 9, 2018. The procession started at 5 o’clock in the morning and

lasted for about 22 hours. The feast of the black Nazarene is one of the most important feasts
observed in the country.

Intramuros – Intramuros or ‘within the wall’. It represents the oldest district of Metro Manila,
built during the Spanish occupation. It’s the best place to start your day and to soak in the rich
history of the Philippines. The walls is still well preserved, even though the huge part was
destroyed in the WWII. Still, lots of historical buildings, museums and even 2 churches can be
found inside the area. One of the historical buildings inside the Intramuros is the most famous,
Fort Santiago.

 Fort Santiago – One of the most famous sites inside Intramuros. As a defence fortress,
this citadel played a very important role in the history of Manila. Today it’s still very well
preserved and together with lovely gardens and plazas. This is where the country’s
national hero Jose Rizal spent his last days and wrote his famous “My Last Farewell”
poem.
 Manila Cathedral – On your right side is the Cathedral of Manila, a Roman Catholic
basilica, dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary. It’s been heavily damaged several times,
but it’s now restored to its full glory.
 San Augustin Church and Museum –It was constructed, destroyed and restored and
now This Baroque church was recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and named
a National Historical Landmark. It has 14 side chapel and beside the church is a small
museum featuring Spanish Era vestments, furniture, and religious artwork.
 Casa Manila – a reconstruction of a Spanish colonial home of the 19 th century. Each
room in Casa Manila is decorated in period style, complete with antique furniture, and
artwork.

Everyone must be really hungry now. Don’t worry, because our next stop is the Sm Mall of
Asia and that’s where we’ll be having our lunch.

Sm Mall of Asia – SM Mall of Asia, also known as SM MOA, is a shopping mall in Bay City,
Pasay, Philippines. It is currently the 4th largest shopping mall in the Philippines and the 11th in
the world. We’ll be having our lunch here in MOA. After our lunch, I’ll give you all some time

to shop. You can shop around, but make sure that all of you will be back by 3pm sharp. This is
where i’ll be meeting you.

 Moa Arena – Mall of Asia Arena is an indoor arena within the SM Mall of Asia
complex. It has a seating capacity of 15,000 for sporting events, and a full house capacity
of 20,000. SMX Convention Center – The SMX Convention Center is the Philippines'
largest privately run exhibition and convention center.

Guten tag jeder! We’re all complete now, so we can now head back to the hotel. Everyone just

 World Trade Center Metro Manila – on your right side is The World Trade Center
Metro Manila is the first exhibition center in the .
 Cultural Center of the Philippines – now on your left side is what we call CCP, a
government owned and controlled corporation established to preserve, develop and
promote arts and culture in the Philippines. Its artistic programs include the production of
performances, festivals, exhibitions, cultural research, outreach, preservation, and
publication of materials on Philippine art and culture.
 Philippine International Convention Center – on your right side again is the Philippine
International Convention Center. The facility has been the host of numerous local and
foreign conventions, meetings, fairs, and social events.
 Manila Baywalk – on the driver’s side The Baywalk is a seaside promenade overlooking
Manila Bay along Roxas Boulevard in the city of Manila. Baywalk Manila is a popular
venue at night with open-air cafes that serve local cuisines while onlookers may watch
the Manila sunset.

We’re going to be pulling up to the hotel in just a few minutes. Once you’re out of the coach
please double check if you have all of your bags with you. I hope you all enjoyed our tour today
and learned a lot from the Philippine culture and history. The hotel will provide your snacks,
dinner for tonight and buffet breakfast tomorrow.

TRANSFER OUT COMMENTARY

So today’s the day and you all will be going back to your country. For those who have
made personal expenses please come to check at the front desk to finalize.

I’d like to remind everyone that you have to surrender the room keys and have everyone
checked all of the belongings in your room. Also I want to remind you all about your travel
documents. I hope there will not be any left behind.

Since everything is complete, now lets go on board, we’ll be going to the Ninoy Aquino
International Airport for you to catch your flights.

I supposed everyone knows me and the coach captain already. Still I am your guide
during your transfer-out to the NAIA Airport. Ladies and gentleman we are now leaving the
Manila Hotel, hope you all enjoyed your stay at the hotel. You all must’ve missed your country.
Still I hope you’ll miss the Philippines too. Again while on board the coach please remain seated
always until we have come to a complete stop and wear your seatbelts.

Make sure that you have your airline tickets, passport, and embarkation card. There’s also
a minimal terminal fee at the airport.
