This document is a proposal by John Moug for his final project in English 100.002. He plans to create a PowerPoint presentation to illustrate his ideas in a more enjoyable way compared to an essay. He has experience with PowerPoint from another class and feels he can create an entertaining presentation. By combining visual and written elements, he believes he can better communicate all of his arguments. Final Proposal

I have chosen to illustrate my ideas through a Power Point Presentation. I believe that this

is the best way for me to get my thoughts across to the viewer in a more enjoyable way. I have

been working with Power Point in my MIS 128 class and I feel as though I have developed the

skills to create a very entertaining presentation. By presenting my project through as many visual

and written devices, I think it will enable me to speak to the viewer a bit more. I think if I just

wrote an essay, I would not be able to communicate all the arguments I intend too throughout my

project. I also don’t think I would be able to develop a thesis by only creating a visual. For this

reason, I decided to combine everything throughout my Power Point presentation.

The message that I am going to try to get across with my final project is how important

literacy is for this world to function. I am going to mention how individuals such as myself can

develop their writing styles and procedures to create better writing techniques needed to be

successful in the world we are living in today. I hope to focus on the struggles that the youth and

myself are finding with the ever changing more innovative world of writing. I hope to illustrate

everything that I have learned throughout this course. I definitely hope that my project can
capture everything that is going on with the struggles with literacy the youth of today are going

through.

I will be using my WA2, WA3, WA4 as a base for my project. The reason for this is

because on my presentation, I am going to focus more on the literary crisis of today rather than

my writing processes and problems. Developing the many artifacts I have found in these Writing

Assignments will help me create a great argument. I will specifically use some of the photos that

I have used through these assignments and incorporate them into the my project. Also, in WA4 I

am going to use the source displayed through my assignment as a background to this

presentation.

Since I am going to create a Power Point, I am going to attempt to capture the attention of

my viewer with a fast paced, visually intriguing presentation. I haven’t decided exactly what

sorts of things I will include in the presentation, but I will make sure to have sources such as,

“Johnny Can’t Write” and the USAToday article about the social networking project. Not only

would I like to visually show the reader, I will trying to include short statements per slide, and

my goal is not to get too wordy through my presentation, I just want it to flow smoothly and be

very upbeat for the viewer to enjoy. I strongly agree that there is a literacy crisis with the world

today, and I feel as though my presentation will be able to investigate into the issue accurately

with entertainment.
