5. Describe your disciplinary system. Describe a situation where a student was belligerent
to you in front of the class. How and when do you approach about a disciplinary
situation?

9. Describe any work you have done with community groups, such as church, boys/girls

INTERVIEW QUESTIONS
“MUSIC/FINE ARTS SUPERVISORS”

1. Avoid saying that you would be willing to do jobs outside your field of expertise
if you ‘had to’, such as:
a. A Band Director who would be willing to ‘do elementary’
b. A Band or Chorus Teacher who would be willing to ‘do strings’, but has
no knowledge of strings outside of string methods class, and little
willingness to learn

2. Give me 3 titles of selections which are age-appropriate for this level student.

3. Have an awareness of composers, authors, conductors and teachers who are


recognized in your district, state or nation.

4. Be a Music Educator, not a Band Director, Choral Director ….

5. Be an Educator, not only a Music Educator.

6. Give me 4 or 5 examples of how you would incorporate the State Standards &
Benchmarks as a part of your curriculum.

7. How would you use technology in your teaching?

8. Give examples of your continued growth as a Music Educator through your


growth in your professional organizations and workshop.

9. Rate your self from 1 to 10 on the following categories:


a. Conducting
b. Score Preparation
c. Instrument Pedagogy (Private Teacher from the Podium)
d. Parent Boosters
e. Use of outside expertise, such as Staff Instructors, Private Teaching
