CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
Background of the Study
Computer knowledge and skills are becoming essential
components technology in education. Students must be
prepared to utilize these technologies for the advancement
of science and for future practice in local and global
communities. Samarkandi (2011) stated that little attention
has been directed to students’ attitudes about computer.
The attitudes about the use of computers for the
enhancement of learning are relatively unknown. Few
research studies have been identified that explicate
students’ attitudes toward computer usage for the
acquisition of knowledge and skills.
Attitude is a learned behavior and, as such, is highly
susceptible to change. It can alter every aspect of a
person's life, including their education. Student attitudes
on learning, good or bad, affect their outlook toward
learning throughout life. Their attitude towards learning
affected not only their amount of education but their
desire for education. It will determine their ability and
willingness to learn (Guyana 2019).
2
In Camiguin National High School, the subject that has
an assessment particularly the Computer System Servicing
in the ICT Strand, owns a lot numbers of students. This is
to be done in order to determine the students’ attitude
towards Computer System Servicing. The researcher will
investigate whether the students’ attitude have influenced
the number of student who will take the Computer System
Servicing Assessment.
3
Conceptual Framework
Figure 1 shows the conceptual paradigm of the study.
The independent variables are the students attitude towards
Computer System Servicing. The dependent variables are the

Statement of the Problem
The study will determine the students attitude towards
computer system servicing.
Specifically, it will seek to answer the following
questions:
1. What are the students profile?
a) Sex b) Educational Status
c) Family Monthly Income
4
2. What is the students attitude towards Computer System
Servicing?
3. Is there a significant influence of the students
attitude in the numbers of students who will take the
Computer System Servicing Assessment?
Hypothesis
The research will be guided by the hypothesis that
follows:
There is a significant influence of the students
attitude in the numbers of students who will take the
Computer System Servicing Assessment base on the students
sex, educational status and their family monthly income.
Scope and Delimitation of the Study
This research will focus only on the students’
attitude towards Computer System Servicing. This study
covers only those Grade 12 students in ICT Strand in
Camiguin National High School, who have been attending the
Computer System Servicing Assessment subject. This research
study will be conducted in Camiguin National High School,
located in Looc, Catarman, Camiguin. The duration of this
study is in the Second Semester, S.Y. 2019-2020.
5
Significance of the Study
The success of this study will be helpful to a number
of benefactors and potential information users, especially
the Grade 12 Computer System Servicing teachers, as they
will know what is the students attitude towards the subject
that they were teaching.
Teachers. Teachers will be given a great benefit in this
study for it will help them know what is the attitude
of their students towards a subject and for this
teachers can adjust themselves towards the students
that has a problem in his attitude.
Students. The outcome of this study will give the students
a benefit for they will know what attitude a student
have in a subject.
Researchers. The findings of the study will give them more
knowledge, widening their perspective on their own
research.
Future Researchers. They will be given some ideas,
guidelines and references in writing their studies.
6
Definition of Terms
The following terms are defined by the
researchers to give clear and wide understanding of
the study.
Computer System Servicing (CSS). Refers to doing repairs
and maintenance on the physical components of a
computer and its peripherals.
Computer Systems Servicing Assessment. To assist the
Students skills and abilities which enables them to
have a bit experience about the computer system.
ICT. ICT or Information Communication Technology is a track
that is proposed in Camiguin National High School.
Attitude. Learned motivations, valued beliefs,
evaluations, what one believes is acceptable, or
responses oriented towards approaching or avoiding.

CHAPTER 2
REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE
Assessment is type of valuation which wants pupils to
vigorously achieve multifaceted and important tasks, while
transporting to tolerate previous wisdom, and recent
education and applicable services to resolve truthful
difficulties. It determines what students can do with what
they know (Barron and Hammond, 2008). Assessment has
charged or is changed to allow students to demonstrate
content as well procedural knowledge of a range of tasks;
assess a wider range of learning outcomes, assimilate
valuation with the programme and evaluate in more
trustworthy framework ( Bell and Cowie, 2001; Popham,
2012).
According to Bachman (2009), the term ‘assessment’ is
commonly used with a variety of different meanings. Indeed,
the term has come to be used so widely in many different
ways in the field of language testing. Many educationalists
however propose that assessment should be considered not
merely as a process for assessing students’ understanding,
but also as a learning process- one that teaches students
concepts and requires them to explain and communicate their
interpretations of the information, and their methodology
for solving problems (Morrison, McDuffie, & Akerson, 2008)
8
The results indicated that students do change their
perceptions of assessment demands toward more deep level
in response to constructivist’ learning environment.
However, this change is not accompanied with similar change
in its approach to learning. On the contrary, students seem
to develop more surface approaches to learning during the
course. Students’ approach to learning at the beginning of
the course seems to have a higher impact on the extent to
which they change their approach to learning than how
students perceive the demands of the assessment (Gijbels
et al., (2008)
Contend that the assessment strategy of a particular
course has a major impact on student activity. It
influences the approach that students adopt towards their
learning, how much time they spend on their studies, how
widely they study the curriculum, and whether they grasp
the key concepts of the subject. There is also an evidence
of a significant, negative ‘backwash’ effect (Biggs & Tang,
2008) on student learning and achievement of poorly
conceived assessment strategies. Therefore, teachers who
neglect paying attention to their assessment practices
cannot coordinate students’ effort to enhance their
academic performance. (Maclellan, 2010 & Cavanagh, 2012)
9
According to Dewey (2010) students learned best by
doing and experiencing which would enable them to become
aware and determine to solve problems, want to learn and
become more responsible for their learning. According to
Connelly, (2010) schools have always played a vital role
in ensuring that students have the skills needed for the
job or career they have chosen. Students are the essential
factors that every school should have. Without them, school
would make no sense. On the other hand, school activities
and outputs are the essence for each student to take up for
them to be called as students.
Therefore, the researchers conclude that every
evidence of students’ performance signifies the influence
for a hindrance that they should overcome. Every experience
enables them to be aware of every possible problems, and
gives elevation to things that they want to learn. This
emphasizes that those students involve in the conduct are
the main information for every process of the study. Their
conceptual understanding hastens, which only means that
they give value to the learning and knowledge. As they
value the things that are new to them, their interpretative
thinking skills elevates and masters their understanding
on how to solve complications on academic matter.

CHAPTER 3
METHODOLOGY
This chapter deals with the methods and procedures
used in this work to achieve the stipulated goals for the
study. This chapter highlights the following: research
design, locale of the study, population of the study,
data gathering procedure, research instrument used, and
statistical tools.
Research Design
This study will be utilizing the quantitative and
descriptive approaches to investigate the influence of
knowledge on students’ attitude towards computer system
servicing
Locale of the Study
This research study is conducted at Camiguin National
High School, that is located at Looc, Catarman, Camiguin.
The school offers Senior High School program and lot of
tracks, including the ICT program which has the Computer
System Servicing subject.
11
Population of the Study
The total population of the ICT students that has
always attending the CSS subject is (34). The researchers
will utilize the complete enumeration count which involves
all the members listed in the sampling frame.
Data Gathering Procedure
The researchers will put together some question
regarding to the topic of the study and produce the
questionnaire allowing the researchers to float their
questionnaires to the respondents. After the approval, the
researchers will immediately administer and retrieve the
questionnaire to and from the respondents. After it has
been accomplished; it will be scored; tallied, tabulated
and interpreted.
12
Instrument Used
For this research study, questionnaire was designed
for analyzing students’ attitude towards Computer System
Servicing. Researchers will utilize a self-made survey
questionnaires that will be answered by the respondents and
will help the researchers find data’s about the students’
attitude towards computer system servicing.
Validity and Reliability
The researchers will be using a survey questionnaire
as the main tool for this study. To test the validity of
the modified questionnaire, the researchers will be
conducting a pre-test to all the assessment passers. Three
weeks after, the researchers will be conducting post-test.
The resulting data will be subjected to correlation
analysis applying spearman-rank correlation. The
Questionnaires was constructed by the researchers. It will
be pretested among the Grade 11 ICT students in Camiguin
National High School for the validity and reliability of
the questionnaire.
Statistical Tool
13
To aid in the analysis and interpretation of data, the
following statistical measures will be employed.
1. Mean, Frequency, and Standard Deviation. This will be
used to describe the respondents’ academic level.
2. Spearman-Rank Correlation. This tool will be used to
determine the reliability of the instrument used.
3. Chi-Square Test for Independence. This statistical
measure will be used to provide evidence of an
association between students’ attitude computer
system servicing in the numbers of students who will
take the CSS Assessment.
Scoring Guideline
This research will be using a likert scale method. For
measuring the responses related to the students’ attitude,
a five-point Likert Scale will be used in scoring the
responses.
