Overview of Electronic Instrument System

The document describes the electronic instrument system (EIS) on an aircraft, which requires AC power, APU or ground supply. It includes the primary flight display (PFD) and navigation display (ND). The electronic flight information system (EFIS) controls two sections for pressure, ILS, FD and NAV modes. The electronic centralized aircraft monitoring system (ECAM) displays engine warnings, status, and is controlled by a panel showing engine, bleed, pressure, electrical, hydraulic, fuel, APU, conditioning, doors, wheel, and flight control information. The document also describes the switching control panel, air data and inertial reference system, navigation data, data management computers, and warnings in case of failures

Electronic Instrument System (EIS) :- requires A\C power, APU or Ground supply.

1- Primary Flight Display (PFD)

2- Navigation Display (ND)

A-Electronic flight information system (EFIS): Controlled by a panel divided by 2 sections:

1- Pressure, ILS, FD

2-NAV MODES (Rose ILS,VOR,NAV), ARC and Plan mode, VOR\ADF 1+2 Activation and Range of Map.

B- Electronic Centralized Aircraft Monitoring System (ECAM):

1- Engine Warning Display (E\WD) shows EPR, EGT, Slat, Flap position, N1,N2, oil press, Temp, Vib,
[Link]. (Has priority to be displayed), Memo messages, No smoking and seatbelt signs,
Warnings and cautions will be shown on the lower area.
2- Status Display (SD) will show related info based on phase of flight or when manually selected.
For Cruise: [Link], Vib, Oil, Differential pressure, Cabin V\S, Cabin Altitude.
Can include limitations, procedure, INOP Systems. (on the bottom will show TAT, SAT, GW,Time)

Controlled By a panel has the following options which can be shown individually on the Status Display :

-ENG: Oil, Pressure, Vibration, Fuel Used.

-Bleed: Anti Ice, APU, Ram Air, Temperature.

-Press: Cabin Pressure, Differential Pressure, Cabin Altitude, Vertical Speed, Pack 1+2 Flows.

-Elec: Battery, Gen 1 + Gen 2, APU Gen, External Power.

-Hyd: Pressure for 3 lines (Blue, Green, and Amber).

-Fuel: Fuel on board, Fuel Used in each tank.

-APU: Generator, Bleed, EGT.

-Cond: Air-conditioning in cockpit, Forward and Aft Cargo.

-Door: 6 Slides and Exits + Pressure.

-Wheel: Main and Nose wheel.

-Fctrl: Ailerons, Speed Breaks, Elevator, Rudder and pitch trim.

-All: Goes through each page one by one by holding the key.

-Clr: Clear any message shown on the SD.

-STS: Shows any message on the SD.

-RCL: Recalls Any cleared message from the SD.

- T\O Config: Test the aircraft setup used before take off.

- Emergency Cancel: To shut off intermittent alarms.

Switching Control Panel (above ECAM Panel) used for emergencies:-

-ATT HDG (Capt, Normal, F\O)

-Air Data (Capt, Normal, F\O)

-EIS DMC ( Capt, Normal, F\O)

-ECAM/ ND XFR (Capt, Normal, F\O).

-Air data and inertial reference system (ADIRS) supplies info for the PFD

-Nav Data (ND) .

- Sensors Through the aircraft sends signals to SDAC 1+2 (amber Caution) FWC 1+2 (Master warning)
each goes to the designated DMC.

DMC 1 ( Provides info to EFIS\ECAM) Captain Side Shown on E\WD

DMC 2 ( Provides info to EFIS\ECAM) First officer’s Side Shown on SD

DMC 3 ( Used as a Back Up)

If FWC 1 is INOP (Upper Capt, Lower F\O warnings will be illuminated only and vice versa for FWC , you’ll
have to monitor each page and OH panel in this case for warnings) if both failed there will be no visual
or aural warnings.
