Deflection Limits for Structural Members

This document provides deformation limits for various construction elements under different load conditions. For rafters, the vertical deflection limit is L/360 for live loads and L/240 for dead loads if supporting plaster, and L/240 and L/180 respectively if not supporting plaster. Column horizontal deflection limits are H/60 for low rise buildings and H/400 for high rise under dead and wind loads. Purlin vertical deflection limits are L/150 for collateral and live loads and L/150 for wind loads. Crane runway beam vertical deflection limits are L/600 to L/1000 depending on the crane class under dead and crane loads.
