 Benzonitrile is categorized as dangerous goods class 6.1 with UN number : 2224.
 The emergency procedure for ship carrying dangerous goods for benzonitrile is
categorized as S.A or spillage schedule Alfa, as follows :
- General contents
Wear suitable clothes and self contained breathing apparatus. Avoid contact
even when wearing protective clothing. Contaminate clothing should be
washed off with water.

- Spillage on deck
If there is spillage on deck don’t dreck water straight to the spillage, it well
get straight to sea and caused pollution. Make the spillage into packages
(small-spillage).
- Cargo transport unit
Keep bridge and living the cargo transport unit up wind wash overboard.

For foam and CO2 type can be changed on board but for wheeled foam type have to
order for the recharge to the manufacture. To rechange foam and CO2 type :
- Extinguisher must be completely discharge.
- Remove the head cap.
- For foam type remove the CO2 cartridge.
- Refill the extinguisher with foam solution and water and also.
- Recharge the CO2 cartridge. For CO2 type just recharge the CO2 cylinder that is
exhausted.
- Put the head cap back and make sure it is tight.
- Renew the seal.

12. Have you seen a portable 50kg DCP extinguisher on your ship? If so where is it located?
Refer to the instruction booklet and briefly explain with diagrams how the extinguisher
works. How will you recharge this particular extinguisher?

the couplings, also tried to use them.

For upper deck, A-deck, B-deck, C-deck, D-deck, bridge deck, and cargo hold, all are
using smoke detector for the fire detecting sensor system in MV SWERTIA because in
those places smoke detector is more suited to detecting fire. In this places if there is fire
then the materials around there will create smoke because of the fire. For engine room
we use smoke detector also heat detector because engine room is a hot space so we
need to have heat detector to know if the engine temperature is normal or rising
because of the [Link] on the next page.

18. How many CABA’s do you have on board? Where are they located? List all the
equipment including the fireman’s outfit which is kept along with them. Name the make
of the CABA’s find out the capacity of their air cylinders and accordingly calculate their
nominal working duration.

minutes.
- Prepare the patient.
- Hold the mask tightly and put on the patient face then ventilate the patient
by rhythmically compressing the ventilation bag for respiratory.

- Switch the battery to 1 or 2.
- Take out release handle safety pin.
- Close bypass valve.
- By operating the release handle 5 to 10 times the hydraulic will release the
lifeboat from the hook and the lifeboat will slide down to the launching
ramp.

to another place to make him or her to calm down.
