Botany Department Report 2012-13

Departmental Activities

1) Guest Lectures Dr. Anuradha Upadhye on, Devarai in Western Ghats for [Link]. Botany students.

2) Educational visits

1) Ayurveda rasashala – Stdents of T. Y. B. SC. Botany had visited Auyrved-rasashala , Karve


Road, Pune 4. There they observed Auyrvedic medicine Preparation. e.g. Shatavari Kalpa,
Kumari Asava, Adulasa syrup etc.

2) Seed Testing laboratory – T.Y. B. Sc. Botany students visited a seed testing laboratory at
College of Agriculture, Shivajinagar, Pune-5.

3) F .Y. B. Sc. Students visited a poly-house, at College of Agriculture, Pune-5

4) For S.Y.B. Sc. Students a local visit to Plant bio-diversity park ( Sipna farm) near Donaje phata
was organized. Forty eight students had participated in the visit.

3) Study Tours – Study tour was organized to Bhmiashnkar for F.Y. B. Sc. And T. Y. B Sc. Students
observed flora, fauna and medicinal plants in sanctuary.

4) Project Exhibitions

1) Botanical Rangoli competition was organized on 12th Jan.2013.

2) Science Exhibition -25 students had participated in various Seed Germination Model of
poly-house, GM crops, Medicinal plants, etc.
Students Achievement
3) Students of T.Y.B. Sc. Participated in the one day workshop on Flower arrangement organized
by H. V. Desai College jointly with B.C. U. D.

Botany Department Report 2013-14

DEPARTMENT AL ACTIVITIES
Study tour/ Local visit- Visit to poly-house and bio-fertilizer department was
organized for F. Y. B. Sc. Students which is located at college of agriculture, Shivaji-nagar
Pune- 4. Sixty five students had participated.
Ekebana Flower Arrangement workshop- Ekebana flower arrangement
workshop was organized by the department in collaboration with Ekebana Society of India
Twenty five students had participated.
STAFF ACHIEVEMENTS
DR. Raval Prachi had attended National symposium on
Bio-medicine unfolding the secretes from nature, held by institute of Bio-informatics and
Bio-technology, University of Pune, on 10 th and 11th Jan 2014.

Botany Department 2014-15

1) Guest Lecture : Departmental Activities

Lecture was delivered by Dr. Vinaya Ghate Retd. Sci. E1 Agharkar Research institute on
Floristics of Pune on 6th Jan.2015. Students of F. Y. B. Sc. appreciated it and participated in
the discussion.

2) Local visits

1) The department has organized a local visit to Empress Garden. Students observed a
flower show, bonsai exhibition, rose exhibition, Japanese miniature garden prepared by
Botanical society of India.
2) The Department has organized a visit to poly-house college of Agricultre, Pune 4
students observed cultivation. They observed computerized micro-nutrient supply,
ventilation system of poly-house.
3) The Department has also organized a visit to bio-fertilizer department.
Students observed mass cultivation of Blue-green –algae, Azotobacter, Phosphate
Solubilising bio-fertilizers.

3)Students achievements
1) Priyanka kadam and Vidya Bhande participated in Avishkar an inter-collegiate
competition organized by Savitribai Phule university of Pune and Abasaheb Garware
College, Pune [Link] “Phyto-remedition of municipal waste by using macro-phytes,”

2) Sharada Najan presented a poster in poster competition on Golden Rice-A GM Crop.

3) Varsha Deshmukh and Prathamesh Parab Presented a poster on single cell protein in
science exhibition held at Modern college Ganeshkhind,Pune 16.
