ACF Pakistan mission is opening a WASH project in a remote area in the South-East province of
Pakistan (Sindh). The initial assessment has already been conducted in 2012.

This project targets flood affected and vulnerable community living there. The main objective is to
improved access to safe drinking water through rehabilitations of water points in order to
provide water for consumption purposes.

ACF wants to experiment and develop a ‘Low-Cost easy latrine’ that could produce clean and
open defecations free environment at village level. Communities should be involved since the
early stages of the project to ensure greater sustainability of the project.

This project will last for one year to provide the water and sanitations facilities for households
located in two different areas (TMK & Badin).

The Hygiene Team is composed by:


- 1 WASH Hygiene supervisor
- 2 WASH Hygiene Promotions officer.

As a WASH Hygiene Promoter you are required to develop your strategy regarding
Hygiene Promotion Activities to be carry out over the year
in coordination with the WASH Officer and the Hygiene Promoters
Describe the general strategic steps you should/would plan to carry out your hygiene
promotion activities?

What challenge and solution you foresee in the achievement of your project?

According to you, how to efficiently involve communities in a development project?

Before the completion of the project the WASH Program manager asks you to
prepare a CAPITALISATION Report (Lessons Learnt Report) on the entire project.

1. Case study- As a WASH hygiene supervisor, you are asked to assess an area
following a flood which has caused:
 Widespread damage and displaced thousands of people to temporary shelters.
 Outbreak of watery diarrhoea according to the information from health centers/NGO in
the area.
