Staff Development
Title: Wikis as an Organization Tool for Teachers
Teacher: Teresa Maddox
Audience: High School Teachers
Unit Summary
I asked a few high and middle school teachers what technology tool would help
them the most. They wanted a tool to help them organize their lessons and
resources into one place. They want a place to store all their websites, videos,
worksheets, quizzes, etc. in one place where they have access to them at home and
at school. After careful consideration, I chose to show them how to use a wiki to
do just that.
Learner Analysis
The staff development lesson was delivered to high school teachers from the
science, English, and social studies content areas. All teachers who attended had a
Smartboard in their classroom and felt comfortable with technology. Although I
was shocked to find out that no one knew what a wiki was, I was excited that I
could teach them something knew.
