HANDOVER 3rd Mate Jebel Ale 06.03.

2016

1. Trade:
The Vessel is chartered by MSC and for the time being under new rotation AFRICAINDIA PAKISTAN SERVICE
Hazira, Mundra, Nhava Sheva, Colombo, Port Louis, Durban, Coega.

2. Watch:
Watches of the 3rd Officer are from:
0800h – 1200h & 2000h – 2400h at Sea
0600h – 1200h & 1800h – 2400h in Port

3. Watch in Port:
For more details: Watch Instructions for Duty Officers in Port and Gangway Watch in Port. On departure/arrival the
responsible Officer must prepare the Bridge according checklists CL–010/CL013, Pilot card, Update departure draft (and
destination) on the AIS.
You have three VHF-equipped watchmen on deck (2 on cargo watch and 1 at the gangway). Make your rounds regularly
and mark them down in the log (ship-office).
Reefer plugging & unplugging announced after arrival
DG containers as per loading plan. Report irregularities to C/O. After sailing you need to update the fire plans on main
deck (S/P) with the DG stowage plan (C/O).
Damage-Reports are found on (server/CHOFF/damage). Show damages to a foreman and make and attach a photo (camera
in the left-side drawer seen from loading computer).
Lashing as per lashing plan. You have 8 gearboxes and 58 bins, write the position on departure into the port log.
In doubt call C/O

Bilge & Ballast

Depending on the situation, adjustable valves can be opened up to 40 percent without compromising pumps.
Bilges cannot be pumped without a watchman checking their contents and/or without C/O’s approval.
Use Bilge Holding Tank in Port
Incase Bilge Pumping call ECR to prepare Main Valves Port & STB , for Bilges 2-7 & the readiness of system.
A bilge-test will take place. Log it in the log-book and the bilge-log.
Bilge Log Book incase of alarm available in Ship Office.

4. Maneuvering Station:
You will be in charge of the forward station. Bonus is ape with the winch-controls, so you can supervise the operation
freely.
You have 2 OS & DC
In Port 4 Head Lines / 2 Spring Lines (temporary winch M4 not workimg)
Tugs mostly Main Deck, Tug Line either with Man Power or Air Capsta
5. Watch at Sea:
For specific details also see „Watch Instruction Deck at Sea“, standing orders and night orders.
You can call the Captain at any time.
Read and sign the standing orders.
Compass corrections 1 time per watch.
Weather Reports must be generated and sent at 0000 0600 1200 1800 UTC send via Inmarsat C .
Furthermore “Bon Voyage” weather forecast service program is in use.
All navigation equipment is in good condition. ECDIS and RADARs.
ECDIS – Pilot Card Air Draft not correct.
Engine
Speed adjustment announced by captain.
3rd Mate’s Papers:

Monthly Report:
All papers as per Li-016 (server/data/3rdoffcer/3rdofficer/monthly). After you prepared monthly papers acc. Li-016, scan
and send them to Captain’s folder.

1. Test of Critical Equipment (CL-007)


Most entries are made by engine department. Print CL-007 checklist and give to 3rd Engineer in the end of the month, after
Engineers signed it 3rd Eng. will give you back checklist. Collect signatures and dates from 2 nd Officer, your own and
signature from Captain.
Scan the fully signed form and file the scanned copy in the folder on the bridge. The scanned document has to be attached
on GL Manager

2. Ship Manager

Most Maintenance Tasks are included
Drills & Training included as well: After Drill Scan FO-014 & attach File
QHSE & ERP update check frequently in Ship Mamanger

3. Inspection of Safety Equipment (Fo-015)


You have to inspect the ship’s safety equipment Fo-015 is to be signed by Master, 2nd Mate & 3rd Mate.
1 copy is for bridge file B-1, Attachment Ship Manager

4. Shipboard drills & trainings (CL-017)


This checklist will inform you about trainings and drills for the whole year. When one month’s training is completed you
have to fill in the dates indicated by “X”. You should present the new Training Plan during the Safety Committee Meeting
where it will be approved.

After each drill you have to prepare the Fo-014 Training participants list. Make entries in the logbook.
Form Fo-13 are filed in bridge-folder A-3.
Drill Log has to be attached it to the spare pages in the end of Bridge log book.

5. Safety Committee Meeting

You will be in charge to protocol each Safety Committee Meeting. Time and place to be organized with the captain.
Prepare safety-related issues for each meeting.
Give one copy to the Captain.

6. Qualification and Familiarization (FO-022 )

Currently managed by Master


After on signers on board, collect documents from them and prepare Fo-022, new crew member must sign it and
give it to sign to Captain for his signature. After scan it, send scanned copy to Captain’s folder and give original copy to
Captain.
Fo-019 must be executed for each new crew-member depending on his rank.

7. Prepare new muster list for new crew members.


Places: Bridge (wall and ERP), EBA Decks, Ship Office (ERP), Fire-Tubes on U-Deck P/S, Engine Room
Fire-Booklets: Crew-Recreation Room, Crew Mess Room, Officer Recreation Room
Life Boat Crews: Both Lifeboats next to the hatch Remember to update the phone-list.

8. Extra Meals for Charterer and provision account


You are in charge of provision account every month.
Every thre month, make an inventory with the cook next end of march 1016. Enter quantities into Provision stock in
file, which you will ressive by mail from company. Put provision invoices inside of Provision Accounting.
Go Ration [Link] and update monthly meals. Prepare extra meals for charterer account for each person which
can eat on board even if he will not eat. It will help with further consumption.
Provision will be taken in Durban .
Exempl you can find in folder – provision / 2016 / last completed month.

Port Papers:

Currently managed by the Captain except STORE LIST & CREW EFFECTS DEC.
All relevant forms and files can be found in server/Cadets/NOA/Port Clearance.
All information about requirement paper for ports your cane find on the Charter mail box.

Safety Officer:

As 3rd Mate you are the appointed Ship’s Safety Officer. The Safety Officer is responsible for inspection and maintenance
of all safety equipment on board. You might have a Deck Cadet or other crew members as support for some jobs. Just ask
the Chief Officer for assistance in advance. Furthermore, you are responsible for planning of safety drills and trainings.

Deck and in both ERP Manuals.

VOD-Equipment: The computer 11.02.20106 was send for repair will back in April. VOD It id temporarily inaccessible.
As 3rd Mate you are the appointed Videoed Administrator. Stored in the Ships Office, this new desktop computer is
supposed to aid us in safety training.
After Crew change you send a massage toand request the new Crew ID’s & maybe existing training records.
Store the Data on the Video Tel USB Stick & Import the files to the Systems.
Data G – 3Off –VOD you will find a Crew List, Passwords for each Crew member will be generated first by you I use the 6
digits of the date of birth.
Start the System
Log in as Administrator Pw 2* admin
Start OTM
Update Crew List & Import Data’s
Training records should be send beginning of each month and after crew change for off signed Crew members.
Records must be send via Masters account to & otherwise no synchronization with VOD Server.
