The local government is planning to convert your town’s rice fields into an

industrial park. One of the bridges with historical value will be demolished.
Most of the residents disagree with this plan, some agree, and a few remain
undecided. If you were in the shoes of each of the people enumerated on the
next page, what would you say about the plan?

Municipal Engineer: The local government unit committee on this project will conduct a
Public Hearing. Together with the town people most especially our department of natural
Resources. We all know that this project will rise employment to all town people with no
fixed income and will add the town’s Allotment. Supposedly, if this public hearing will show
positive response, the affected sustainable rice field will be given a chance to relocated in
same land category. Lastly, the LGU and all government institutions will conduct this area or
in short, it will converted from farm Locate Cory to in Industrial Category.

Teacher: I will agree to the plan of the local government for it can help those people who
don’t have jobs. Although it has a history, the Industrial Park can give benefit to the
residents, they can also have jobs for those “tambays”.

Businessman: I would more likely take sides with the local Government. This planning
fcan increase the chances of having successful businesses and can give huge advantage to
me as a businessman. I think I would support the local government because of the benefits
of the plan to me and many infrastructures will emerge until then.

Vendor: I would agree to this plan because it can give benefits to me as a vendor,
because many people would visit the place and I would most likely have a rise in income
and also might be successful in doing business.

Street Sweeper: I will disagree with this plan. Working hours would increase and it will
be more tiring because this can attract more individuals.

Student: As a student I would be happy about this plan but I will also feel guilty for the
value of the historical bridge. It can benefit me but I will stand on what will be decided.
Mother: I would be in favor of the rice field not being demolished. As a mother I care not
only for my children but also other people. I would think more regarding the people who find
income from the rice field and the ones who consume the product of the rice field.
