Anchor Support Carrying Weight Calculation

Duct Material : Stainless Steel (SS316)

Density : 7816 kg/m3

Hilti HKD data sheet for requirement of base thickness and tensile resistance

The Anchor bolt can take tension force upto 900 kg > 17.88kg (Headworks) and
32.19kg (PST)
For Headworks

Bigger Duct Size : 700 mm x 600 mm

Duct Thickness : 0.8 mm

Support Maximum Spacing :2m

Weight of Duct = 7816 kg/m3 x 2.6 m x2 m x 0.8 x 10-3 m

= 32.51 kg

Support weight = 10% of Duct weight

= 3.251 kg

Total Weight for 2 meters span = 35.76 kg

Weight per 1 meter =35.76/2

Loading onto slab =17.77Kg=0.175kN/m which is rather small

We have 2 nos of hangers with anchors to support this weight.

Hence load on one anchor = 35.76 kg /2

= 17.88 kg

Allowable pull load for M10 anchor = 1550 kg <17.88kg

Concrete Shear load capacity of single anchor

Vu = 25 d2 fcc0.5

Where

d = diameter of the anchor bolt 10mm

fcc = concrete cube compressive strength 35 N/mm2

Vu = 25 * 102 * 350.5

= 14790.2 N > 178.8 N

Concrete breakout strength of single anchor in tension.

Nu,c = 15.5 fcc0.5 hef1.5

Where

hef = Effective Embedment depth 40mm

fcc = concrete cube compressive strength 35 N/mm2

= 15.4 x 350.5 x 401.5

= 23198.27 N > 178.8 N

Hence due to anchor bolt the concrete slab will not break out.

For PST

Bigger Duct Size : 1300 mm x 1300 mm

Duct Thickness : 0.8 mm

Support Maximum Spacing : 1.8 m

Weight of Duct = 7816 kg/m3 x 5.2 m x1.8 m x 0.8 x 10-3 m

= 58.53 kg

Support weight = 10% of Duct weight

= 5.853 kg

Total Weight for 2 meters span = 64.38 kg

Weight per 1 meter =64.38/2

Loading onto slab =32.19Kg=0.315kN/m which is rather small

We have 2 nos of hangers with anchors to support this weight.

Hence load on one anchor = 64.38 kg /2

= 32.19 kg

Allowable pull load for M10 anchor = 1550 kg <32.19 kg

Concrete Shear load capacity of single anchor

Vu = 25 d2 fcc0.5

Where

d = diameter of the anchor bolt 10mm

fcc = concrete cube compressive strength 35 N/mm2

Vu = 25 * 102 * 350.5

= 14790.2 N > 321.9 N

Concrete breakout strength of single anchor in tension.

Nu,c = 15.5 fcc0.5 hef1.5

Where

hef = Effective Embedment depth 40mm

fcc = concrete cube compressive strength 35 N/mm2

= 15.4 x 350.5 x 401.5

= 23198.27 N > 321.9 N

Hence due to anchor bolt the concrete slab will not break out.
