CRISPR and Species Eradication Efforts

Scientists are using CRISPR as the starting gun for gene drive technology to eliminate malaria from patients in Burkina Faso. 1. Not really. An evidence of this is when the pregnant woman received a checkup from a
doctor and he told her that she had malaria. He then asked her if she knew how people
got malaria and she told him that it was by the ingestion of bad food.

5. Why are the scientists trying to eradicate rats from New Zealand?
 To prevent the extinction of native bird species that can’t defend themselves against
the rats.

6. Name 3 reasons why the people of New Zealand didn't want to support the scientists
eradicating all rats.
 According to the people of New Zealand:
i. Humans don’t have the right to eradicate the species of rats.
ii. The method used to kill rats will then be used against humans.
iii. The other methods used to kill rats haven’t worked in the past, so what
assures them it is going to work this time.

Why?
 Yes, because the group of people working behind the eradication of the rats seem
very focused and determined to fix the country’s problem.
