Running head: Apology for Misconduct.
Please allow me to apologize for my misconduct on Saturday Nov 2019. My behavior
was extremely inappropriate, immature and lacked the respect to the patient I was left with to
take care of on Saturday Nov 2019. I offer my sincerest apologies for being unprofessional at the
time of the incidence, that I was unable to report to the primary nurse about the patient status, as
it required by the hospital and nursing conduct. I understand my informed behavior has caused
problems to the hospital and inflicted health complications to the patient.
It has come to my knowledge, it’s against the required conduct and ethical guidelines for
a nurse I am assured that nothing of that kind would repeat under my watch next time if given a
second chance.
I am in the process of amending the situation, with all the parties that I may have caused
harm to. First, I have planned to apologize to the hospital management, for denting its image. I
will personally apologize to the primary nurse for being naïve and not working according to
instructions she had earlier instructed, to periodically report on my patient urination frequency. I
will offer my sincerest apologies to Mr. Kelvin for failing to account for his health status. I have
already written an apology letter to his family, requesting for forgiveness and out of court
settlement on the matter. I have already explained to his family it was not my intentions to harm
their relative, it was as a result of due negligence. I have also registered up for an ethics and good
practices in the ward seminar so that I can learn and better my understanding on right conduct
that should be embraced in a workplace and particularly in the ward. I have a feeling taking this
mentorship conference will assist me change my behavior and be a better co-worker. I have also
promised myself never to behave in the same way.
I know the nursing profession is a calling and it comes up with a lot of commitment. It
requires a person whole mind and body to be dedicated to patient’s condition. It requires one to

be humane and understanding to painful feelings and troubles patients go through. I understand
in order offer better services in the ward it requires a nurse to be responsible and accountable for
his or her acts and decisions him or she makes. My misbehavior breached this working conduct
and went against the required ethics of a nurse, hence ruining the reputation of the hospital.
By making this changes as an individual and working extra hard to change my behavior
so that it will never happen again, I hope to compensate for the mistrust that I have caused to the
hospital, I hope to prove to everyone that am a responsible nurse and I can manage duties
which am given. I hope to heal the harm that I have already created. I have very great trust in the
nursing profession and faith in the hospital, so my actions should not interfere with great work
done there.
Again, I am sorry for my actions and I hope that we can put this matter behind us. I look
forward being given a second learning opportunity from the hospital.
