Introduction
Established at the World Chiropractic Congress in Sydney, Australia (1988), the World
Federation of Chiropractic (WFC) quickly gained momentum as it expanded across 88 countries
and became the official representative of the chiropractic profession on an international scale.
The WFC is recognized as a global non-profit organization that strives to empower, support,
promote and advance chiropractic innovations and trending practices. (World Federation of
Chiropractic, 2009).

Overview of Objectives
EPIC 2019 is designed to bring together leaders and international experts to discuss and debate
the trends in chiropractic education with an emphasis on the spine. Diverse lecturers and
interactive workshops will enhance attendees experience by developing the skills and know how
while also allowing for better retention of the innovations presented. The speakers will be
addressing subject material that will engage both national leaders in education and practicing
chiropractors alike.
By attending the EPIC 2019 conference in Berlin, Germany our physician, and by extension his
practice, will receive profitable returns in the following areas:

Biography

Dr. Rodney Overton, [Link]., D.C

(Adelaide Family Chiropractic, 2019)

Dr. Overton was born and raised in London, Ontario where he

attended Montcalm Secondary School.
He discovered his passion for chiropractic care when he had his first
adjustment by a chiropractor, who was also a family friend.
Growing up Dr. Overton suffered from frequent and severe colds
which included mononucleosis, pneumonia and strep throat. When he
started getting regular adjustments his persistent colds seemed to
become a distant memory. This is when Dr. Overton realized that the profession, he chose
offered him a different outlook on health and how the body works. The innate intelligence of the
body has captured Dr. Overton’s heart and will forever be a motivator in helping residents of
London unleash the power within them.
Dr. Overton completed his Bachelor of Science at the University of Western Ontario in 1988.
After his graduation he moved to Toronto with his new wife and attended the Canadian
Memorial Chiropractic College. During those 4 years he discovered the joy of studying anatomy,
physiology and different chiropractic techniques. Upon graduation from the Canadian Memorial
Chiropractic College in 1992, Dr. Overton and his family relocated back to London, Ontario to
set up his own practice.
Throughout his career Dr. Overton has paid attention to adjusting techniques such as: diversified,
Talsky tonal technique, MC2, and has also been observing immense advancement with the OTZ
chiropractic technique.
Having family members who have suffered from several sports-related injuries, Dr. Overton is
particularly enthused about furthering his practical knowledge on rehabilitation by attending the
available workshops. He is also excited to bring further knowledge to the office on the Activator
Method. This will enhance the variety of adjustments provided to his loyal patients.
Due to his passion in studying anatomy Dr. Overton is also thrilled to attend the biomechanics
workshops. He is eager to return to his staff with knowledge in a field of endless healing
opportunities.

Return on Investment
The costs in the expense sheet lay out the most practical and affordable travelling expenses. The
flight chosen is time and cost efficient, along with choosing the airbus for transportation to and
from the Toronto Airport. Before travelling, remember to have an updated passport and be aware
that there is a time difference, Berlin is 6 hours ahead. When travelling while in Berlin, the taxi
service is the most reasonable, as you will not be located within the appropriate public
transportation zone for the bus, train, or subway.
Unfortunately, we could not take advantage of the discounted rooms at the conference, as all
rooms have been booked. However, we have found a bed and breakfast close to the conference at
an appropriate rate, with excellent reviews. While there may be a language barrier sight-seeing or
while touring Berlin, English will be used at the conference and the hotel booked.

“In 1988, Dr. Serola discovered that patients' strength increased after sacroiliac stabilization.
After years of research, he developed a theory based on biomechanics and the kinematic chain.
The underlying principles are the proprioceptive responses of flexion/extension within the
cranio-sacral mechanism, the body's innate system. Postural distortions accompany specific
muscle imbalances. Back, hip, and leg pain and weakness often come from instability at the

If the business was to promote and sell Serola Biomechanic products, the Serola Sacroiliac Belt
in particular. This belt would have many positive benefits on a variety of medical conditions
including hip and back pain, sports injury pain and even pregnancy pain. This product fits in

NEW BUSINESS Julia Allen opened discussion on when to hold weekly meetings
for the Capstone Project. Macy Ostland MOVED that our weekly

Julia Allen began discussions on the group contract and what it
should entail. Danielle Clarkson MOVED that our main
communication be through messenger group chat or at our weekly
meetings. The motion was SECONDED by Roberta Spasic, with
the addition that all communications need to have responses
within 24 hours. CARRIED. Julia Allen MOVED that all
members must be present at meetings, or give 24 hours’ notice, so

now that our research is complete. Danielle Clarkson MOVED to
book a flight for transportation to Berlin, as it is the most cost
efficient and fastest route. The motion was SECONDED by
Roberta Spasic, CARRIED. After looking at the accommodations
research Mersiha Podgorica MOVED to have the physician stay at
the Hommage à Magritte bed and breakfast. The motion was
SECONDED by Macy Ostland, CARRIED. Roberta Spasic
MOVED that transportation to and from the conference and events,
is using a taxi. That it is the most reasonable and quickest
transportation. The motion was SECONDED by Julia Allen,
CARRIED. The checklist for the conference was discussed and
clarified, on what aspects to include. Based on the biography of the
physician, Mersiha Podgorica MOVED that the physicians main
conference interests are the Activator Method and biomechanics.
The motion was SECONDED by Macy Ostland, CARRIED. Julia
Allen MOVED to have all final drafts to be finished by next
meeting, to start the formatting process. The motion was
SECONDED by Danielle Clarkson, CARRIED.

NEXT MEETING The next meeting will be held in the Fanshawe Library on
Tuesday, March 5th at 10:00 a.m.

CALL TO ORDER The meeting of the World Federation of Chiropractic Conference

Capstone Project was held in Fanshawe Library on March 5 at
10:00 a.m. The meeting was called to order by Mersiha Podgorica,
Danielle Clarkson was the Recording Secretary.

ATTENDANCE Presents Julia Allen, Danielle Clarkson, Macy Ostland,

Mersiha Podgorica, Roberta Spasic

OLD BUSINESS Last weeks’ meeting scheduled for February 26th was cancelled
due to scheduling conflicts.
Approval of February 12th minutes were MOVED by Julia Allen.
The motion was SECONDED by Mersiha Podgorica. CARRIED.

NEW BUSINESS Mersiha Podgorica opened discussions on any changes to be made

to the overall report before starting formatting. Mersiha Podgorica
MOVED to change the flight departure to the Toronto Airport,
which is more time efficient, reducing layovers. The motion was
SECONDED by Julia Allen, CARRIED. Roberta Spasic MOVED
that the physician use the Robert Q Airbus for convenience. The
motion was SECONDED by Danielle Clarkson, CARRIED. Julia
Allen moved to add an expense sheet, for a clear picture of
projected costs. The motion was SECONDED by Macy Ostland,
CARRIED. With these changes Danielle Clarkson MOVED to
have revised copies uploaded to the locker or sent through email,
by end of day on March 7th. The motion was SECONDED by
Mersiha Podgorica, CARRIED. Julia Allen MOVED to add all
completed documents to the report herself, which she will send to
all team members by March 10th, for review. The motion was
SECONDED by Macy Ostland, CARRIED. Danielle Clarkson
reminded team members to use the ‘Gregg Manual’ for all
formatting. Roberta Spasic MOVED that all other communication
regarding this report can be done through group messenger, as the
deadline is being reached. The motion was SECONDED by
Mersiha Podgorica, CARRIED.
