Hypothesis
Step 1: State the null and alternative hypotheses.
H0: There is a relationship between peoples’ occupation and choice of motorbike
brand.
H1: There is no relationship between peoples’ occupation and choice of motorbike
brand.
Step 2: Select the level of significance.
Let the level of significance is 0.01
Step 3: Select the test statistic.
It is the chi-square distribution.
Step 4: The degree of freedom is (r-1)(c-1) = (3-1)(7-1) = 12
The critical chi value at 12 df is 26.217. If computed χ2 > 26.217 H0 will be rejected.
Step 5: Step 5: A data table and the following contingency table are constructed.

Student 2 0.006 0.67 0.011 0.89 0.11 0.33 4.017

Total 20.422
Hypothesis
 As we can see calculated χ2 (20.422) < 26.217
 So we cannot reject H0
 Hence we can conclude that, there is a relationship
between peoples’ occupation and choice of
motorbike brand.
