A RESOLUTION REQUESTING TO THE RETAILERS AND

WHOLESALERS OF GRAINS IN THE CITY OF PUERTO PRINCESA
TO PUT A LABEL ON RICE BOXES IN CONSONANCE WITH THE
MEMORANDUM CIRCULAR NO. AO-2018-10-002 ISSUED BY
NATIONAL FOOD AUTHORITY (NFA)

WHEREAS, Memorandum Circular No. AO-2018-10-002 issued by

National Food Authority (NFA) provides for the labelling of imported
and local rice together with their corresponding prices that are being
sold to the public;
WHEREAS, it aims to help promote consumers’ right and welfare
through transparent and fair marketing practices;
WHEREAS, there are some retail stores who are still not
distinguishing the imported rice from those which are locally
produced;
WHEREAS, with the present situation of our farmers who are
competing with the world, it is important to encourage the public to
consume the products of our own;
WHEREAS, consumers will not be informed and enticed to buy local
rice if there are no readily available labels on boxes of rice;
WHEREAS, BE IT RESOLVED, as it is hereby resolved, to pass a
resolution appealing to the retailers and wholesaler of grains to put
a label on rice boxes in the City of Puerto Princesa in consonance
with the Memorandum Circular No. AO-2018-10-002 issued by
National Food Authority (NFA);
RESOLVED FURTHER, that copies of this Resolution be furnished
to the National Food Authority (NFA) Palawan, Department of
Agriculture Palawan, Department of Trade and Industry Palawan,
City Agriculture Office, and the City Information Office for their
information.
