1. INTRODUCTION
a. This procedure provides guideline for execution works for acid sulphur pipe spool Line no:xxxxxxxx that shall be
performed by STS EDAC Inspector for in accordance with client’s requirement.
b. The welding works sequence shall approved by client.
2. PURPOSE
a. This guide covers quality assurance and control of piping work activity from receiving of material, storage,shop
fabrication / testing and field installation / testing.

a. Submit Welding Inspection Control Sheet (WICS) together with WPS,WQT & Specific Repair Procedure to
PRPC UF for review and approval.
b. Prior to material arrival at site, STS EDAC shall carry out the following work.
c. Obtain pipe material Purchase Order (P.O.), packing list and shop inspection mill certificates.
d. The inspector shall identify the quantity, type and size of the piping as a reference to inspect the storage area
to be provided and the storage method / [Link] the receiving inspection record forms.
e. Welding work shall be performed as per approved WPS by qualified welder and shall be monitored by
supervisor (before, during and after).
f. Sharp edges shall be removed. Extra care should be given not to damage the adjacent area.
g. The client representative shall witness MPT/DPT activity to confirm that there are no defects present and
repair work is accepted. If the result of NDT is unacceptable, remove the defect by grinding, repair and carry
out NDT again.
h. The STS EDAC shall check the isometric drawings had been checked and approved by PRPC UF
i. The isometric drawings to be used for fabrication were marked at shop for spool number, welds number and
WPS number.
j. Spool drawings were checked by PRPC UF for correct dimension, identification of pipe cutting length, fittings
and flanges.
k. Selection of the correct fittings and flange (shall be in accordance with isometric drawings) will be by PRPC UF
5.2 Welding of Pipe Spools
a. Inspect to ensure fit – ups work utilizes proper method as usually in construction practice (use of angle, level,
clamp etc.).
b. Inspect to ensue that fit – up tack welding is done by qualified welder. Check the welding electrodes used
conform to WPS.
c. Inspect randomly that weld bevel angle and gap are correct in accordance with WPS.
d. Inspect to ensure that each welded spool is marked to identify the isometric drawing & mark number, each
weld with welder number, welding date and radiography number / date shot.
e. Refer to project specification procedure for further requirements of inspection.
5.3 Welding Facility.
a. Inspect to ensure the welding machines have proper amperage capacity (WPS requirement), stable voltage
etc.
b. Inspect that welding holder in good order.
c. Inspect space for welding to ensure welder free movement as required during welding. This will avoid weld
defects

a. All condition must comply with Permit to Work (PTW).
b. All conditions stated in the Job Safety Analysis (JSA) must be followed.
c. All personnel working on the job site shall be informed of the safety awareness by attending the safety induction
conducted by client representative prior to commencing work.
d. Full PPE and fire watcher is required to ensure personnel safety whilst working at site.
