AL CE; WAL CE; SoC Energy Draining, Domination; SY Forked tail (silver); AN None; CR Reptile green; HD None;
PoW Anywhere; CL Clerics, Shamans; PN Abyss.

Rivalry between demon lords is great, but the enmity between Demogorgon and Orcus is immense and unending.
Demogorgon is a terrible opponent. First, he possesses great powers in his two heads. Should he fix the gaze of
both upon his enemies, he is able to hypnotize. Victims under the influence of this hypnosis will follow most
instructions absolutely and afterwards will tend to believe or carry out the residual of the hypnosis. DemogorgonÊs left
head has a gaze that has the effect of a rod of beguiling, and the gaze of his right head causes insanity.

Second, Demogorgon is able to lash his forked tail, striking with it as a whip-like weapon. Its touch causes
energy drain. Third, his tentacles also are deadly weapons, each causing damage to any opponent, but those
opponents who are of lesser stature (particularly those hailing from the Prime Material Plane such as humans, dwur,
olves, etc.) will be subject to rot · a limb becomes useless and drops off.

It is contended by some that this demon prince is supreme, and in any event, he is awesome in his power.
This gigantic demon is 18Ê tall and reptilian. Demogorgon has two heads, which bear the visages of evil baboons or
perhaps mandrills, with the hideous coloration of the latter-named beasts. His blue-green skin is plated with
snakelike scales, his body and legs are those of a giant lizard, his twin necks resemble snakes, and his thick tail
is forked. Rather than having arms, he has great tentacles. His appearance testifies to his command of cold-blooded
things such as serpents, reptiles, and octopi.

DemogorgonÊs ixitxachitl clerics must protect and strengthen their communities and lairs, building up strength for
massive all-out attacks on neighboring sentient creatures. They then settle part of the newly-decimated area,
build and strengthen themselves again, and may wait decades before making new major forays against
other creatures. The vampiric ixitxachitl clerics are of major importance and will not often be in the front line
of combat. They will attempt to control the others, to ensure a good supply of captured creatures that can be
energy drained in sacrifice rather than slain out of hand. The clerics may even keep captives of immature age
(sea olves, tritons, and the like), waiting for them to attain adulthood so that they have more life energy to drain
during their terrible ritual sacrifices.

Demogorgon rarely has human worshipers. On Oerth, a handful of half-insane human cultists revere him;
bloodthirsty pirates and cutthroats may be drawn to him. Demogorgon has very few human clerics, but certainly the
demon lord seems to be growing in power.

CR White; HD None; PoW Anywhere; CL Clerics; PN Abyss.

One of the most powerful demon rulers of the Abyss is GrazÊzt, lord of three entire layers and dedicated foe of both
Demogorgon and Orcus. He was, in fact, waging a winning battle against the troglodyte, harpy, and bar-lgura armies.
At a crucial moment, however, GrazÊzt was magically taken to the Prime Material Plane and forced into bondage by a
mighty magic-user. He battled free at the cost of being confined to his own realm for a century.

GrazÊzt has become so successful in the Abyss simply because he is unflinchingly evil and a brilliant strategist.
The Ebon Lord has surrounded himself with the most calculating and loyal minds in all demondom, including the
demon lord Verin (or Vuron). GrazÊzt is served by lamias and will always have at least one with him at all times.
He is also likely to have succubi or a type V demoness with him in his lair.

GrazÊzt normally employs a huge shield and a huge, wavy-bladed sword that drips acid upon command. The other
weapon GrazÊzt uses is a gisarme. By sneer and word, GrazÊzt engenders fear in all who see and hear his displeasure.
He can gate in type VI demons or babau demons without fail.

GrazÊzt is the handsomest of demon rulers, at least by human standards. He appears as a huge, good-looking man,
although his skin is shining black and his eyes glowing green. His pointed ears and small fangs are merely indicative
of his alien nature. GrazÊzt is six-fingered and six-toed.

GrazÊzt, the Ebon Lord, father to the vile Iuz the Old and ruler of Azzagrat, the Triple Realm, is perhaps the demon
prince most closely tied to the affairs of Oerth and is a hated figure in the texts of nearly every benevolent god. It was
GrazÊzt who helped Iggwilv to dominate Perrenland nearly a century ago, and it is GrazÊzt still who meddles (some say
through Iggwilv herself) in the affairs of Oerth. Perhaps most frightening of all, GrazÊzt has somehow managed
to command a large segment of the drow population of Oerth, and he has found some way to grant spells to
his followers. His method is a matter of great interest for nearly every demon of the Abyss more powerful than
a vrock, and, of course, Lolth is livid. Clerics of GrazÊzt may substitute the magic-user spells confusion, dismissal,

her to some special shrine or temple.

Lolth enjoys the company of spiders of all sorts · giant species while in her arachnid shape, those of normal, large,

understand and obey her unquestioningly. Little is known about her aims, and only the fact that the drow worship of
Lolth causes her to assume form on Oerth permits compilation of any substantial information whatsoever.

form or another, she will seldom be encountered in her lair no matter what the plane, unless worshipers have invoked
her to some special shrine or temple.

Lolth enjoys the company of spiders of all sorts · giant species while in her arachnid shape, those of normal, large,
or even huge species while in her humanoid form. She is able to converse with all kinds of spiders, and they
understand and obey her unquestioningly. Little is known about her aims, and only the fact that the drow worship of
Lolth causes her to assume form on Oerth permits compilation of any substantial information whatsoever.

The faith of Orcus is not a popular one, nor are its priests numerous. Like most chaotic evil gods, Orcus is more
feared than worshiped, but there are those who relish his power and potential, and these become his active priests

morally bankrupt, totally corruptible, and usually quite paranoid. Their desire for power and interest in necromancy is
such that many eventually become vampires or liches.

The sect must seek out and destroy those opposed to Orcus, especially those who turn or destroy undead,
those undead who actively venerate other gods, and former worshipers who have turned their backs on the faith.
Chief enemies are those who serve Demogorgon, GrazÊzt, or Lolth; those who venerate any devil-kind,
including Hextor; and the followers of the gods St. Cuthbert, Pelor, Pholtus, Heironeous, and Nerull (the latterÊs
creation of the drowned ones being an affront to the true god of undead). Non-worshipers may not be raised unless a
victim of the same or higher level is sacrificed (preferably a worshiper of an opposed god).

Priests of Orcus are known as Undead Servants. A cleric who gains 9th level is titled High Necromancer.
Clerics usually wear white robes with green borders on the sleeves and hem. The front of the robe is adorned with a

PAZUZU (Lesser God)
(pah-ZOO-zoo)

Prince of the Lower Aerial Kingdoms

AL CE; WAL LE, NE, CE; SoC Air; SY Swooping bird of prey (silver); AN Raven; CR Red, black; HD None;
PoW Aerie; CL Clerics; PN Abyss.

Pazuzu, or Pazzuzeus, is unlike all other lords of the Abyss in that he rules the skies above all of the layers, at least to
some extent. He differs in several other ways as well. Pazuzu does not compete for rulership on any plane or in
any place, for he considers himself above competition. Instead, he treats all those with power on the
Lower Planes equally (if not actually regarding them as equals). Pazuzu can travel freely in the whole of the Lower
Outer Planes and is known to be on amicable terms with mighty daemons and the dukes of Hell. Pazuzu is also able
to enter the Prime Material Plane at will. Whether he does this by means of his own power or some secret artifact is
under question. Pazuzu is lord of all evil flying creatures, and all save the most powerful will obey his every command
if he is within sight of them.

The main efforts of Pazuzu are devoted to the Prime Material Plane. There he uses his powers to gain followers
and servants. His especial joy is to turn lawful good clerics and paladins from their alignment to his own service.
This he accomplishes by first causing them to speak his name aloud three times in succession. The alignment change
does not occur yet, but the summons brings Pazuzu to the person speaking. Pazuzu then explains that the summoner
may call upon him for aid at any time. Pazuzu may in turn ask a service immediately or demand it after his aid has
been given. Compliance with any request or demand of Pazuzu will then change the alignment of the servitor.
All such actions tend to bring chaos but not always direct evil. Although chaotic, Pazuzu will help those obeying and
serving him if it suits his purpose or amuses him at the time. Of course, the more frequently service is rendered,
the greater the evil, and the more evil the servants become. It is said that Pazuzu has a great sense of humor, and at
times he has not taken umbrage at a check or defeat dealt to him, particularly if the opponents were clever and
intelligent and managed to outwit him.

Pazuzu has a breath weapon, causing the following effects: creeping doom, insect plague, or poison gas (equal to
green dragon breath). In defense, Pazuzu will seldom employ a weapon, preferring to send his bodyguard
(typically six Type VI demons) and use his spell-like or mental (psionic) powers. He can summon harpies, perytons,
or gargoyles. Pazuzu can also gate in succubi. In general, Pazuzu prefers to play with and torment victims and
opponents rather than use radical attack forms except in life or death situations.

Pazuzu can appear as nearly any creature, although he generally takes the form of either a human or some creature
of the air. In his true form, he appears as a tall humanoid with four wings. Although he is handsome, his features
betray a great evil, and his eyes glow red. Pazuzu has a noble brow and large head, a solid, muscular body,
and taloned, avian feet.

The shamans of Yeenoghu have, without a doubt, the harshest deity in the humanoid pantheons. To maintain
their power, kell shamans must sacrifice enemies at each monthly ceremony in a trial by combat. The sacrifices are
allowed to use natural weapons or a dagger, while the shaman is restricted to his flail and no magic (although a

Shamans receive the power to automatically command up to two ghouls per level, drawing these creatures into
their service. Many shamans do away with kell bodyguards in favor of these loyal pets instead. Kell shamans need
not roll dice to wrest control of ghouls from clerics of other deities; their deityÊs relationship with ghouls automatically
empowers them to control these creatures. Kell shamans are also allowed to choose negative plane protection as a

Exceptionally powerful kell shamans or witch doctors (those attaining the 5th level of clerical ability and having more
than 20 hit points) are often given instructions for creating a special talisman that will summon a shoosuva when the
talisman is cast to the ground and YeenoghuÊs name is pronounced. Such a talisman is a miniature carving of a

after a one-round delay and will immediately attack all enemies of the summoning kell priest. The shoosuva will

return to help the summoning shaman again), YeenoghuÊs priests who are able to summon a shoosuva will nearly
always have the 1st-level clerical spell putrefy food & drink on hand and will cast it on one of the shoosuvaÊs
dead victims, with predictable results.

Any kell shaman or witch doctor may call upon Yeenoghu for assistance or advice and thereby summon a
shoosuva intermediary, at a base chance for success of 2% per level of clerical ability. The shoosuva will only remain
for a short time (1 round per level of clerical ability of the shaman) and will require a „free lunch,‰ the same as one
summoned by a talisman. It will provide the caller with whatever advice Yeenoghu is able and willing to provide.
If the summoning shaman is attacked while speaking with the shoosuva intermediary, the creature will immediately
seek to attack and slay all of the summonerÊs opponents.
