PLC Motor Connection Report

This document is a report from a student at the Technological University of Altamira for their Practice #1 in the Mechatronics 3rd semester PLC course. The objective of the practice was to connect a motor manually and automatically through a PLC. Materials used included banana connectors, a power supply, starter motor, three-phasic motor, PLC and computer software. Wires were connected between components and the motor was tested running automatically in both directions. A diagram in the PLC and block diagram are included. The student concluded they learned how to interpret ladder diagrams and connect a three-phasic motor manually and automatically through a PLC.

Report Practice # 1

Objective: Connect the motor manually and automatically though the PLC

MATERIALS:
-Banana connectors
-Power supply
-Starter motor
-Three-phasic motor
-PLC
-Computer with the software Zelio

DEVELOP:
We connected all the wires with the power supply, then with the connections
of the motor to the starter motor. We connected the cable to the PLC and
finally we try out in both senses of the motor automatically.

Conclusion
I learned with this practice to interpret the ladder diagrams, connect the
three-phasic motor of two ways, manually and automatically, before the
practice, in the classroom we did de program in the computer and we
simulated. Today we connected with the PLC. I am learning more about the
connections.
