LAC Session Reflection on Teacher’s Code of Ethics

(February 14, 2019)

Just like a captain who cannot navigate a ship without a rudder, teachers,
too, cannot educate a child without a thorough knowledge of the code of ethics.
-Glem-
The LAC session conducted was a very good refresher to us, teachers, who are already in
the service for a couple of years. I am very thankful we had that LAC session since it gave me
valuable insights.

First, it made me realize that humans as we are, we tend to become lax as years pass by
thinking that we are already experts in the field. However, this mentality must be changed. We
must not forget that teachers hold a great responsibility to the school, to the community, and
even to the profession itself.

Second, the Code of Ethics for teachers puts premium on ensuring quality education to
all Filipino learners. This implies that we must upgrade ourselves by pursuing further studies to
improve efficiency and strengthen competence.

Third, the Code of Ethics sets as a reminder that we are most privileged to be in the
noblest profession on earth. Hence, we must not engage into anything that would give a moral
blemish to our profession.

Lastly, reviewing the Code of Ethics has given me a fervent desire to become a better and
a more efficient teacher who always keeps in mind that I AM AN AGENT IN BUILDING A
GOOD NATION.
