Effective Time Management for Working Students

This chapter introduces the concept of time management and its importance in daily life and organizations. It notes that many students work to support themselves and their families financially while attending school. Specifically, it states that around 216,000 students in the Philippines currently juggle school and work. It then presents the problem that some students at Cristo Rey High School struggle with effectively managing their time due to school assignments and performances as well as work responsibilities, resulting in insufficient time.

Chapter 1

The Problem and It’s Background

I. Introduction

Time Management plays a very important role not only in organizations but also in our daily

lives. It refers to managing time effectively so that the right time is allocated to the right activity. Time

management also refers to making the best use of time as time is always limited. This involves juggling

time between the domains of life – work, home, social life, hobbies and studies. Which may be applied

to students that are currently engaged into work.

A working student is a person who has work and at the same time go to school as a student.

Some students work in their school for financial assistance and some students work outside as an

employee or a self-employed working student. Students have many reasons to work. One of these is that

they want to help their parents in earning money to meet the needs of their family. These may include

their daily needs such as food, shelter, clothing and education. Some students work to aid their financial

problems upon studying and some wants to gain more experiences. In the Philippines about 216,000

students are currently juggling school and work according to the latest data of Commission on Higher

Education.

There are some students of Cristo Rey High School that experiences difficulties in

managing their time better because of various factors in school such as homeworks, projects, and

performances and factors in work such as simultaneously needs to answer inquiries from customers

while answering and doing school works and insufficient and lack of time which make me wonder how

to manage time efficiently and effectively with some strategies that will be tackled in this research paper.
