Case 1: Prudence comes with Fortitude
Introduction:
Analgesia-T, a pain reliever medicine was manufactured by CPC company is a well-
known analgesic known to provide relief from pain and serves as palliative to people
worldwide.
Statement of the Problem:
In 1980’s, there are humans who takes analgesia and died after because it was found
out that it contains cyanide which is a very poisonous. A white crystal was accidentally mixed
with the medicines while they are manufactured at the factory.
SWOT Analysis:
Strength:
It was a well-known medicine.
It has large or big fund.
It has a very good initiative of what steps to be made.
Weakness:
The control and the management of the factory.
Opportunities:
To gain more profits.
Threats:
To net a less profit for the next release of medicine.
Alternative courses of actions:
They readily ordered the retrieval of the products from the market.
Advantages:
Reduce the number of deaths.
They give the attention to their customers and employees across the world of
how they cared.
Disadvantages:
They have lost a millions of dollars.
The company president made an appearance on television to assure the customers that
they are taking actions on what happened.
Advantages:
The people are going calm on the said situation.
Disadvantages:
The company may receive criticism.
Conclusion and Recommendations:
The best solution or the best action to be taken is doing first the appearance on
television and ads in order to gain the sympathy from the people together with the
operation on retrieval of the medicine on the market and give some incentives such as
refunding the customers cost on buying product and giving customer care hotline.
Case 2: Where Is After-Sales Service?
Introduction:
Celia’s neighborhood has a shop named Spidermart, it is a well-known for
being very spacious, well supplied and for its enticing advertisements.
Statement of the Problem:
When a neighborhood named Celia buy a shower nozzles in Spidermart
which a very well known mart and was very convinced of the salesman that the
quality of the product was very good and it is for a lifetime use because it is from
one of the largest sanitary product manufacturers in the world.
SWOT Analysis:
Strength:
For being a customer, she has the right to complain and request for a replacement.
Spidermart has a well-known supplier.
Weakness:
They did not foresee the customer’s next actions.
Low quality of product.
Celia was deceived by the salesman.
Opportunities:
Customer satisfactions.
Threats:
Issue will be blown out to the public.
Alternative courses of actions:
Spidermart replaces the product.
Advantages:
The issue will be resolve.
Disadvantages:
Incur losses for the product.
Celia asked for help with the customer’s union.

The mart replaces its defect product.

The issue will be blown out to the public.

Will not incur loss on the product.

Might experience a lot of customer loss.
Conclusion and Recommendations:
Since the mart had their lapses about the product, and the customers according to the
sayings that customers are always right, the mart should immediately replace the
product with asking the receipt or the important documents to be proved that it was
from their market in order to reduce negative feedback and build such goo customer
relationship.
Case 3: Fair Wage
Introduction:
CHEHOMA Corporation has been operating for almost 10 years. Due to the
global crisis the Philippines had been weakened its economy. And the
corporation after five years started to obtain debts from the banks in order
for the business to go on.
Statement of the Problem:
It all started on weakening of the Philippine economy which follows the
failure of the business to pay their debts to the bank.
SWOT Analysis:
Strength:
The company had a very understanding yet wise employees.
Weakness:
The company had less capital.
Opportunities:
To give employees the right minimum wage of salary.
Could have run the business smoothly.
Would not abide the law.
Threats:
May face the company a criminal law.
The company’s reputation is in danger.
Alternative courses of actions:
Lay-offing mass of their employees and cutting-off their expenses.
Advantages:
Met their bank’s obligations.
Disadvantages:
Unemployment of lot of people.
Employee’s salary is below the minimum wage.
Advantages:
Prevent unemployment.
Disadvantages:
The company might face a criminal law.
Find investors who are willing to join the business.
Advantages:
Prevent unemployment.
Had more funds to meet obligations.
Disadvantages:
Difficult to achieve.
Conclusion and Recommendations:
Though global crisis is there which has a great effect to our economy, companies should find
solution which can help them as much as possible. The best action to be done is have a
meeting to all from the highest rank to the lowest in order to talk about the problem of the
firm. The management should be honest on what the standing of the business is and accept
the decisions and suggestions of the employees.
Case 4: Saints and Sinners
Introduction:
Considering the two individuals:
Maria is a student in a Clinical Laboratory Science class that if you are the
teacher, you would likely think that she is least likely to be a good health
provider. Although comes from a rough-and-tumble background, she is very
bright.
Arthur is a model student still a Clinical Laboratory Science class, which a
teacher dreams to have a perfect class with students looks like Arthur.
Statement of the Problem:
A teacher is on her way out of the office which she leaved it open and the
test paper above on her table. Maria and Arthur are working students on
the building which they know you are out.
SWOT Analysis:
Strength:
Students have a very good initiative on the situation.
Arthur is a model student. Maria trust herself.
Weakness:
Temptations are there.
Opportunities:
Students may have a high score or perfect the exam.
Threats:
Students may get caught and get expelled.
Alternative courses of actions:
Do not enter, close the door and make sure no other will experience on such
temptation.
Advantages:
You will not be accused, if anything happens.
Disadvantages:
You won’t see the answers.
Enter and look at the test papers.
Advantages:
You will see the answers.
Disadvantages:
You will be caught and get ready for the consequences.
Tell the others for them to know also.
Advantages:
You can help them to have a high score.
Disadvantages:
You might be expelled from school.
Conclusion and Recommendation:
The best thing to do is close the door in order to run away from temptation and tell the
teacher of what happened and tell her to be more careful and she could change the test
paper to be sure.
Case 5: The Asarco Company
Introduction:
The Asarco Company was foundry for copper in Tacoma, Washington.
Statement of the Problem:
When the company releases a very unpleasant smell of their product which
people used to say “Tacoma Aroma”. They also release a very high notable
smell of arsenic, which is a poisonous chemical that is used especially to kill
insects and weeds.

Though their contribution, they had been famous.
Weakness:
Releases unpleasant smell.
Opportunities:
The reduction of arsenic.
Threats:
Lot of people may suffer to illness.
Alternative courses of actions:
Low reduction of arsenic smell.

Reduce the health risk.
Disadvantages:
Expensive.
Totally reduction of arsenic smell.

There will be no people suffer on illness.

Too expensive.

Loss profit and a lot of people will be unemployed.
Conclusion and Recommendations:
The best solution is to reduce to the totally reduction of arsenic smell for the safety of
people because as practicality talking the human body has no money equivalent to it.
Case 6: The Bank Depositor
Introduction:
A depositor entered into a trust agreement with a commercial bank under
clear and certain terms that it would carry at such interest net rate. The
bank manager assured him that his deposit is very safe, but the depositor
has not furnished a single piece of document except the official receipt of
his money deposited.
Statement of the Problem:
The bank depositor did not do such deep investigation of the situation he is
going to enter.

The manager gave an assurance of the said agreement.
The depositor has the right to complain.
The commercial bank has its well-known alleged BSP officials.

Low connections of alleged.
Easily give trust to others.

Will not lose a lot of pesos.

The depositor may not recover the one million he deposited.

Seek other opinions of some lawyer of actions to be taken.

More options you can choose.

More expenses.
Have a sincere talk with the manager.

Resolve such issue immediately.

Might be deceived more.
Conclusion and Recommendations:
Businesses may really do their best for you to enter on such transaction in your firm for
them to have profits and as you as the customer has the right to do background check in
order to make sure if it is reliable. But the best thing to do in this cases is to check
everything first for your safety.
