Job Description: Mining Engineer, Open-Pit

Minerales de Occidente, S.A., a subsidiary of Aura Minerals, Inc., is seeking a Mining Engineer, Open-Pit
for our San Andres Mine in Honduras. This position is responsible for all production mining engineering
aspects including drill and blast design, production activities and planning, mining-compliance
monitoring, data analysis and reporting. The successful candidate will also be involved in the
preparation of project progress claims and variations, production reporting, productivity improvement
and waste minimization initiatives.

This position involves a high-level of accountability and requires application of a range of


technical, coordination and planning capabilities. Main responsibilities include:

• Long and short-term mine planning and optimization at the San Andrés mine;
• Loading and hauling operations and optimization and management of mining contractors;
• Drilling and blasting design and operation and optimization;
• Grade control;
• Ground control plan and geotechnical support and monitoring;
• Reserve and resource evaluations and related in-fill exploration drilling in and adjacent to the
San Andrés concession;
• Effectively work with the Vice-President of Projects to lead the ongoing capital projects at the
San Andrés mine;
• Assist in the compilation of 43-101 reports to achieve corporate deadlines;
• Effective interface and coordination with Expert Qualified Persons (QPs) to ensure all key data is
included in the final reports;
• Technical support for mining projects across the organization as the need arises and time
permits; and
• Flexibility in supporting both engineering and geologic aspects of projects as necessary.

Skills and Qualifications

• Strong organizational, analytical, and strategic planning skills;


• Detailed design of open-pit mines;
• Creation of engineering and geologic drawings for reports;
• Engineering trade-off studies;
• Compilation, review, and management of drill-hole databases;
• Cost estimation and economic analysis of alternatives;
• Resources and reserve reporting;
• Statistical and geostatistical analysis and modeling; and
• Business development for growth of the mining business.

Requirements

• Degree in Mining Engineering or a closely related field;


• Engineering experience in a site-based production related role in open-pit mining;
• 15+ years of professional experience in base and precious metal operations, with at least 5 years
in a senior planning role.
• Experience in blasting design and optimization;
• Familiar with the project environment and proficient at equipment sizing and selection;
• Experience in the development of 43-101 reports;
• Fluency in Spanish;
• Strong computer skills focusing on Microsoft products; and
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally to support projects.

Non-Essential Skills & Qualifications

• Proficient in English and/or Portuguese;


• Proficient in Minesight and other planning/modeling software. ArcGIS (or similar), AutoCAD (or
similar), and DataMine (or similar); and
• Experience with successful proposal writing, and public presentations.

Work Conditions

Position based in San Andrés with the option to live in Santa Rosa, Honduras. Fly-in-fly-out option to be
considered for residents of Miami, FL, USA.
