EdTech Insights from Dr. Byron Barredo

Dr. Byron S. Barredo was interviewed about his use of educational technology. He has 8 years of teaching experience at both the high school and college level in mathematics. He uses PowerPoint presentations, projectors, monitors and pictures/texts in every lesson. His goal in using edtech is to enhance student learning. One disadvantage is that technical issues could disrupt a lesson, such as wiring problems or blackouts. To cope with this, Dr. Barredo reverts to traditional teaching methods using a chalkboard and visual aids if high-tech options fail.

the classroom?

- The end goal is for student's learning.

3. Disadvantages on using edtech tools inside the classroom:

to become too dependant on technology, there can be inevitable tendencies

where some technicalities on the technology which a person is using, can

"bug-down”. Specifically like wirings, connections, adjustments, settings and

other essential tools that could greatly affect the accesibility of the lesson.

And also another possibility that he mentioned that blackout could also

happen.

4. In what way did he cope up with that disadvantage?

- In counterpart of the mentioned disadvantages, Dr. Byron states that

he would resort to the traditional setting of teaching, basically the low-end
